It may not be officially Autumn by the calendar, but definitely by nature. Three weeks in here, heavy dew on the lawn, leaves falling and the heatings back on. How depressing!

I don't 'do' Christmas, I jumped off the commercial bandwagon surrounding Christmas five years ago. :)

There are one or two good songs in this thread, and some very good comments, but its made me realise something I'd never really thought of before.

Why are most autumn songs so depressing? Its not that they're not good songs, but they don't get you fired up and in the mood for partying.

poor old autumn, it gets such bad press, and is so misrepresented.

Autumn brings us so much. We get all the vivid colours in the countryside, we get that really fresh cool breeze that summer so often lacks. We get to see the sunset while still out and about. It tells us winter is coming, when the sunrise will be late enough for us to actually watch it without having to stay up all night first, and we'll be able to go into the countryside without being eaten alive by flies. Then there are all the things to look forward to in the brand new year to follow.

Here's a good song and video for autumn.

BBC - CBeebies - Presenters Autumn Song

Sums it up perfectly, just look at all the fruit (although the video is slightly out, giving that some of the fruit featured should have finished by autumn).

I like it up until the exact day when it's been done to death for about 2 months, but I like the whole christmas atmosphere.. with the snow, winter, mulled wine, etc :D

Clueless, autumn here means rain and high winds, exactly what we've had for days now. :(

Some of the larger garden centres round us are already displaying fireworks although not sure whether they are legally allowed to sell them yet. They also have Christmas cards and wrapping paper for sale and that was at the end of August which means that it is all going to be a long time the stuff is going to be on display etc, though having said that I have already got a few gifts for people that I saw and bought while away on holiday the other month so I won't have to be rushing round like some idiots do on Christmas Eve trying to get all their prezzies then:D

I love the Autumn colours on the trees and the fresh feeling in the air and that certain Autumn smell as the leaves start to die and fall and has anyone else noticed how the Sweet Chestnut trees have brown crisp leaves that have already started falling this month which is far to early me thinks:rolleyespink:I also love the misty early mornings that are just right for good photo opportunities :D
