After a battering for the last 2 1/2 days my greenhouse relented overnight. two panes out, one of which shattered (toughened glass) over a 15ft area. The wind was from the north west, not known gales from that direction before which is probably why the greenhouse lost out. Meanwhile my carport is hanging on, just! The cross beams have been loosened.

High winds all day today and torrential rain this morning. This afternoon patchy sun and very cold wind. Is it ever going to let up! :(

That toughened glass is a so and so to clean up as it dissolves into sugar like granules. I broke a long pane of it when building my Greenhouse and I still keep finding the odd piece here and there.:what::D

Your right Armandii, it shattered all over the carport as well as getting down between the lawn and footpath. Not good for the car tyres, so spent ages sweeping it up.

Bother, can't bring myself to phone Sis & see whats left of the greenhouse.

Winds dropped here now, seem to have aquired a large sheet of geotex, that'll come in handy somewhere:dbgrtmb:

A calm but wet day today. I've got so used to the wind howling for weeks on end, it seems strange when it stops blowing.

A little ice on cars this morning, but not really a frost, turned out to be a lovely "windless" day with plenty of sun but a tad chilly...

I couldn't believe the weather today, it was just like a lovely sunny spring day. No wind, sun was warm and even my Rhubarb has popped up to see what is going on! :sunny:

been some reports on a non-gardening forum that geese have already returned to parts of the USA, and old people who have been living in the areas all their lives have never seen this happen before so early in the year

there was a similar thread from someone in Germany who also reported that geese were back in his area

perhaps we will have a mild winter? .... many plants/shrubs are in bud/bloom and birds are returning early?

and some guys in the USA`are reporting that they have flies and mosquitoes in their area which is way too early

Roses are putting out new leaves, started off sunny but then went grey.

          Still light at 5pm.
