Yesterday was only our second day of 'proper' rain in the last five months. Today it has just been damp out there.

      Fridays a special day here

      Evening all,
Well you wouldnt know it was january here today (france) it's been warm and bright,
Took the dogs for their walkies down through the woods and sat on an old fallen tree trunk by the river, it really is a smashing day,

After the "walkies" it was time to hit the outdoor market, fridays a special day" because of the street market, just doing what i call people watching is worth the visit to the market, the verious style of dress, ie here deep in the country we dont have a lot of fashion, No it's more of the case "wear what your relaxed in, and the people greet each other with the kiss or hand shake even if you met them yesterday its still the way to welcome each other and it's nice to be greeted this way, the stalls with the verious foods & wines, olives, cheese, the chickens "live" in cages waiting to be bought,
the old ladies feeling every piece of fruit before she buys, the line of people outside their favourit stalls, yes the people here still go from stall to stall even though we have a supermarket, the older folk still buy veg from the veg shop & fish from the fish shop etc ect.

By 1pm the market place is empty (and you'd never know it had ever been there) not a scrap of paper to be seen or any evidence a market was in the village that day.:)
The well used (mixed ) outdoor toilet with its marks for you to put your feet and the dreaded hole we're you do your thing, never has any paper in it (the locals all carry their own roll)
Even this little bit of heaven is silent now, Yes fridays a special day in the village and its been this way for years.

Mild, dry, the sun's coming out but the wind is very gusty and rising. I think we'll have a high wind chill factor today.

Not seen any Egyptians here, Ziggy!

After a couple of days of almost constant rain, today it's blustery and overcast and about 9 deg.

I've been feeling a bit miserable lately and now got a cold so no matter how warm the house is supposed to be I can't get warm. Duvet, ovaltine and an old film for me this afternoon. Such an exciting life :o

Rain eventually stopped just before midday after around 42hrs!!

Had a spell of "very" windy weather this afternoon, large lumps of debris flying around, but calming down again now, thankfully :D

Shiney, it's not fair that you're hogging all the better weather. Can you use the share button to send some our way please. :heehee:

After a five day break when we had some sun, we're back in the old routine of wind and rain today. It's blooming cold too! :(

I've tried that, Sheal, but it keeps coming back home. It's not called Shineyland for nothing! :heehee:

I did invite you to move to Shineyland. :dbgrtmb:

Although we had a fair amount of rain the other day the ditches are still bone dry. As they've been dry for so long the farmers have been taking the opportunity to clear all the shrubs, trees and rubbish that have appeared over the years.

I took this photo this morning on my walk into the village. The ditch had been cleared about two months ago.

Not bad today. A bit of a nip in the air but the sun is out and the clouds are scudding.

Mild at about 50 F but really windy, the telegraph lines are singing! My nose is still dripping, but feel I should really get out and clean up the side of the house. Garrya is looking lovely and the snowdrops in the little wilderness are cheery.

Ground is soaked still after the last week of on and off (mostly on) rain which is a bit of a blessing in this dry zone. Can understand your situation shiney - bone dry does seem most apt in your case - but obviously yours is more severe than in the Fens!
