    That's a lot of varieties scrungee :-)

    Today I bought some Siberian tomato seed from Texas :what: on ebay, they are supposed to be the fastest maturing variety. :dbgrtmb:

    At an average summer temperature in Siberia of 3c, they would have to be:what:

      Good choices!. I've just googled those Scrungee, some of the names (Auld Sod) are great. I see you are going for lots of beeksteak types :dbgrtmb:

                    I'll still have more cherry and salad size toms than beefsteaks next year (got those 30 pkts of Sungold from T&M for 20p each last month, etc.), but as I'll have 3 poly tunnels up by next Spring it will enable me grow lots of different stuff, including more varieties of beefsteak, some of them long season ones.

                    If they are a resounding success and we can't cope with them all, I can always give the excess to my daughter to sell and raise some money towards the £4,000 she needs to go on a World Challenge trip to SE Asia in 2013.

                      Scrungee, it's an interesting place to go. I was touring through there exactly 3 years ago. Cambodia for Christmas and vietnam for New Year. A great time :dbgrtmb:

                      Another reason for wanting to try so many different varieties of toms in one year is that I'm now getting to the stage where trying just say 2 new ones each year (plus a 2nd year if they fail just to be sure) isn't going to enable me do everything I want to achieve from my early retirement in this area - and there's absolutely loads of other gardening stuff I want to do, skills to acquire, etc.

                      I did a similar thing with homebrew wine, and found making 100 galls p.a. enabled me to find the brews we liked a lot quicker than making a few gallons p.a. and leaving to mature for a year before sampling, adjusting and attempting again. That saved many wasted years of trying rubbish recipes.
