try these guys: (don't know if they deliver to your area), but here is an idea of what it costs (£41 for 1000 litres) .... may be cheaper elsewhere, and some guys offer free delivery on bulk orders

so, saying that, B&Q sell 25 litres of compost for approx £5, so 1000 litres of compost will cost approx £200

and this site which is in my area advertises 1 cubic meter of soil conditioner for £59.50

received a call today asking if I will help the landscaper with the planting on monday (where I first saw the soil conditioner when I started this thread)

I will ask him where he gets it from and the price ... I know from the other guy who works for him, that they go to a recycle centre and load a lorry full for cheap when they do big jobs

I will bump this thread on monday night when I have the info

not much information was divulged today .... I asked the guy where he gets the soil conditioner from, and he sort of sidestepped the question... so did not want to push the issue

he did however say that it is from a recycle centre near a place called Baldock and that he goes there with his lorry and they load it for him

I then asked his helper (a young lad who assists with the landscaping), and he was not sure where it is bought, but mentioned the cost of £30 per tonne

so, I assume that this stuff can be bought from your nearest large recycle centre that has a compost processing facility .... I have searched google and found a phone number and I am certain/hoping that they will direct you to your nearest compost recycle centre that this soil conditioner can be bought in bulk

pleasure mate! .... I will research a bit further later in the week when I have time, and will post any other info I find (I will phone around ... I also personally know the guy who runs (in charge) of our local tip and will also buy him a pint and ask him when I see him in the pub again)

I have a few large jobs in spring and would love to use this stuff, especially if it is as cheap as they say it is

Thank you for your email. In terms of delivered costs please find a price list attached. Please note these costs are only for products delivered loose and up to a 15 mile radius from our farm (We are near Buntingford, North Herts) We would only really consider South Cambridgeshire for delivers. We are also unable to deliver in dumpy bags (m3), but we do sell these bags direct from the farm.

If you collect from the farm are prices are:

Prices when collecting

Compost: ... £15 / m3

Compost/Topsoil Blend ... £35/m3

Tree bark: ... £35/m3

Topsoil: ... £35/tonne

Please note the prices are subject to VAT and add £5/m3 if you want it in a dumpy bag.
Our compost is BSI PAS100. This means it is certified and produced to criteria approved by the Association for Organic Recycling (AFOR). For other PAS100 composters I would look at their website www.organics-recycling.org.uk

seems very cheap to me and I will definately use it as I have seen it .... I think 1m3 is what fits into the builders dumpy bags, so that is a lot of compost for that price

I will use the compost to add to flower beds, and when I turf/seed lawn, I will buy the Compost/topsoil blend .... add a thick layer then rotivate and level before turfing or seeding

if you cannot find a compost recyle centre near where you live, call
01763 281223 and they will advise to one local to your area
