    Yes disappointed
Living in Scotland I do not have a Wilco's, or as I enquired a WILKINSONS
(I have been here since April) sad at all I was missing out on

Well I went "home" to visit my brother last weekend, and mentioned Wilko's

He says Oh we have one just down the road about ten minutes walk, but we were going out with the SWMBO's on a coast trip around our old haunts, which included a Saturday Market :-) NICE

Even better one side of the market square is WILKINSONS :-):dancy:

:( The bedding plants were 50p more than Tesco
Wandered around, and shocked to see, four bottomless plant pots for £2.50
Err I get 8 flower buckets from Morrisons for 99p
They had reduced end of year spring seeds from £2.25 for 39p but they only had about five hundred packets of raddish or parsnip

The store itself was nice airy and clean with lots of products Though I would like to be able to compare prices elsewhere before I bought the desirable goods

I thought I had seen wilko's in Scotland before.

What you might find interesting though jack, is how far Falkirk is from Scotland!!!!

I'm not the only one then to think that Wilco's have got more expensive on items than local Supermarkets. We have SAVERS and B & M nearby and they are replacing Wilco's for value and low prices. I use Creosote Substitute for my fences, Wilco's charge £10.25p for 5 liters, while Charlies Supermarket charge £6.40p............... a bit of a difference. I always used to call in Wilco's if I wanted value but not now.

Well the nearest one 37 miles away,
I can not cycle that far on me old bike, so did not know they existed

As I had not come across them before "In my face"/ "advertising" I did not click the store locator duh:DOH:

Just as well, cycle 37 miles each way to pay 50p per product more :D

Did anybody else notice how expensive overwintering Japanese onion setts were in Wilkos recentley? £2 for a packet of 50 that weighed 150g (£13.33 kg) and a hardware store three doors away was selling them for £5 kg. But in the Spring their seed potatoes were around half the price of some other stores.

I've noticed that some of their bulbs are quite pricey; £2 for 1 Erythronium bulb!!, not so long ago I remember buying six for £2 or even plants growing in the green (about 3 to a pot) for £1.50.

You're right about their seed potatoes though in the spring, can't get cheaper anywhere round here, just hope the prices stay down :thumb:

I think it's like anywhere really. Sometimes you have to shop around to get better prices. Some of the stuff in Costco isn't such a bargain but last time I was in there I got 50 tulip bulbs for less that £10. I had seen them elsewhere for more ££ for less bulbs. So that was a bargain. Knowing what you're after and what it costs somewhere else is always good.

Best bargains are at HOME BASE
Plant hospital 50p Alive and kicking £5

Now to remove the 50p label and apply it to the £5 label it is designed to disintegrate, So can not be done

But if you knock the dead plant out of the pot and do the same with the live plant, so as to swap pots cheap as chip's :-)

Shame about the cctv though :-(

I'm a bit too honest to do that at my local Homebase. Their garden section gets hardly any light and if they are watering their plants everyday by a zombie then they quickly become overwatered. Picked up quite a few Mediterranean plants that way, cut back the dead foliage, give them some light and they quickly come round. Saw them selling a massive ash tree for 50p last time I went there, would have bought it, if only I had the room.

My local Wilko's is only a short bus trip away but I was disappointed that most of their garden bits are gone, probably with xmas coming up. Was hoping to pick up their wooden dibber they were selling too. :(
