I have just returned from a few days away to find that the recent spell of hot weather has coaxed out a few late blooms.
Babiana. I have no idea when this should flower. Its a tender corm that has put out a few flowers at intervals over the summer at a time that I thought it should be dormant.

Plumbage, from seed earlier this year, has finally flowered. Also tender.

Tradescantia has been flowering over a long period. Totally hardy.

Pete's Canna 'Cleopatra' is still flowering and has grown almost as big as the Canna tuerckheimii behind it, which has shown no inclination to flower.

Another non flowerer is an orange Hedychium (species unknown), but it still makes nice foliage.

A second one of my Brugmansia seedlings has turned out to be pink, to my great delight.

Good to get the plumbago to flower this year Peter.

              The Brug looks good :dbgrtmb:

The Hedychium look like it might be Densifolium, if it is its more or less hardy.

Thanks Pete - I will make a note of that. Though, up here, I am not tempted to test if its hardy. My H. gardnerianum only decided to emerge a couple of months ago and is about 6 inches tall. I don't expect it to get any bigger, and just hope that it can go back to sleep again over the winter unharmed.

Peter, regarding gardnerianum, I divided and replanted a large pot full in April, I had a chunk, (of root) over and it ended up being thrown under a few shrubs on the allotment.

It has been bone dry all summer, and still is, nothing has happened until now, its put up one two ft stem, I thought it was dead.

I'm sure its to do with day length, cant think its anything else.

Ok, technically its not flowering outside; its on my kitchen windowsill, but its looking good now, I bought it as a 3" rooted cutting earlier this year, its now about 16-18" tall :thumb:
