      Good morning Woo and everyone,

Lovely Chrysanth Woo and a lovely vibrant colour

Sorry wasn't around yesterday as we are busy here this week and havn't had much time to sit at the computer.Mr Kandy is decorating the hall this week and it has been a nightmare with dust everywhere as he has insisted in sanding down all the woodwork on the door frames and skirting boards before painting so not only have had dust to contend with but also a freezing cold house as the front door has been open for most of the day every day.:mad:He should have done all this in the summer when we had hot weather so it would have been a lot better for drying.:DHopefully he will be starting on the ceilings next then it is the walls and as the doors now look odd with the bright white of the frames no doubt he will have to paint them as well at some point:heehee:

We have had some rain so the garden and lottie has been watered and as it is bonfire night this weekend it is bound to be a wet one :D

      Have a good day everyone:)

      Good morning everyone,

Woo, thank you for your morning brightness and cheerfulness :yahoo:

Kandy, I hope your decorating gets finished soon :dbgrtmb:. At least it's not as cold as normal for this time of year. I hate decorating and we've only done it four times in the forty years we have been here. That is apart from the lounge which was completely gutted and refitted and we got rid of the furniture that we had for 45 years. We also got rid of the carpet that was newer - only 40 years old :heehee:. Fortunately, the place still looks quite good.

When we had the lounge done we also had all the doors and skirting boards done as the decorator (our nephew) said they were still in good enough condition to just need a wash down. We have lots of full size cupboard doors as well as the room doors but he is a very fast worker and got through them in two days :rolleyespink: - whilst we were up in the Lake District :D.

It drizzled last night and the forecast says rain for the next five days with today being an 80% chance of rain. At the moment we're in the other 20% and I shall still put the sprinkler on as plants are now dying from lack of water :cry3:.

I manged to cut back our neighbour's conifers between his driveway and our greenhouse (his house is set back halfway down our garden so his drive is very long). I was able to get up to 15ft high, with difficulty, and it's approx 30ft long. I bought an electric extendable hedgecutter the other week and although it is very awkward to use at arms length (instructions say I shouldn't hold it above shoulder height or use it on a ladder) I ignore that first bit :D. My arms had got so shaky by the time I finished that I couldn't clear up after me. Luckily this was Tracey's once a fortnight visit so she did it for me .

I'd never be able to do the specimen conifers by the lawn or these I have just done if I followed both instructions. I've still got all the privet and laurel to do but shall get through it gradually. I used to have someone come in and do it for me but the cheapest quote nowadays is £300 :( and I need it done twice a year.

      Have a great day :D

Thanks Moyra, I don't do that sort of work from a ladder :thumb: but I was holding the cutter up at armslength. That's why my arms are aching like mad today :heehee:. To get a bit higher I carried the garden bench to the conifers and stood on that. I was then able to walk back and forth on it.

Although I've had two showers and washed my hair twice a still smell of conifer :heehee:.

Take care of yourself and give Amber a hug for me :dbgrtmb:

      Good afternoon everyone:)

Shiney,I think we have already heard the decorating saga that you had done the other year but it is nice to have a refresher on the story:mute::DGlad that you have had tracey to help you out as we wouldn't want you hurting yourself and ending up being laid up before we get the white stuff to clear:heehee:I had better not tell Mr Kandy that you have only decorated four times in forty odd years as it might give him the wrong idea about decorating:happydance:It has only taken me ten years of asking and pleading to him to make a start on the hall as I am sick of looking at Magnolia walls.I even offered to do it for him to no avail, but i think it was me saying I would get someone in to do it for him that finally goded him in to action as he couldn't bare the thought of parting with some of his hard earned money:heehee:

      Hi Moyra,hope you and Amber are both ok:thumbsup:.If Amber is anything like our cats as fast as you would be putting paint onto the walls then her tail would be swishing about all over the place and ending up a diffreent colour {magnolia}

      Enjoy your afternoon:)

PS,Had a nice prezzie from that nice Mr Tesco this morning.£35.50 worth of Vouchers so they will come in handy as every little helps:D

Shiney, you naughty boy you walking along a bench while hedge clipping... makes my blood run cold at the thought! :rolleyespink:

Oh Kandy, yes I could always rely on Chloe to finish the brush strokes off any painting I did. The only experience we have had with Amber so far is her palisade fencing to keep her off the garden and in the patio area she did come in with some green on her. Fortunately it came off easily. I think I should have named her little Gem though as she digs into everything. It's hard because with the intermittant showers I have to cover her sand box up and that is when she reverts to either a pot full of soil or the 3" margin of grass inside the palisade fencing. I am forever sweeping it back into the holes she makes.:phew:

Dreading next week trying to keep her calm and resting after her op. That will be interesting.:sunny:

Moyra, there's no problem with using the bench, it's just like walking along the ground. :)
