    Hi Moyra

    Re photos:-

When you're in your photobucket account just hover your cursor over the photo you want to post. You will then get a drop down menu and the bottom option is "IMG Code". Left Click on that and it will say "copied". Then go to your post where you want to put the photo and left click again. The on your drop down menu just click on "paste". Simples :dbgrtmb: :yess:

Oscar is very happy and purring loudly when Mrs Shiney is with him but otherwise he is very listless and seems to have a bit of trouble walking - as though his back legs are stiff. I hope he has only strained the muscles as this is very sudden. He doesn't react adversely when she massages his legs.

I didn't do too badly last night but didn't win. You can't win 'em all! :D

    Oscar Update 11 a.m. Report

As you aren't able to see the update notice pinned to the gates :heehee:, here is a special report for GC.

Oscar has elevated sugar levels and is now diabetic. We are in discussions with his physician on the best way to proceed.

He said that the best way is to have him in hospital for 24 hours for them to be able to check on Oscar's progress (medicine and blood tests :()

Mrs Shiney will talk with his physician about how we can proceed if he stays here. In the meantime we need to get an accurate weight check done on him.

    End Report

    Good morning everyone,

We have just got back from taking my car to the garage for it's yearly service and MOT so hopefully if Myrtle passes ok I can get my Tax disc and will be leagal for another year.My disc doesn't run out until the end of this month but I like to get everything done in advance once I have the MOT that is .We have also been to Tesco's and handed some of our money over for enough food to last us a couple of weeks:D

Shiney, the fact that Oscar is slowing down could be due to either old age or the Diabetes if his sugar levels are high and he isn't on any medication yet as I have heard that some people had extreme tiredness as part of their condition and the stiffness could be due to a bit of Athritis if he is an elderly cat and the fact that the weather is getting damper.I do hope that he soon feels better and please send him our love:)

Moyra, lovely photo of Amber, she is such a sweet dog and good luck with her op on Monday it will help her have a good and happy life:thumbsup:Our Tina used to practically do handstand up trees when she was coming into her first season and it was quiet comical at other times cocking her leg like the dogs do.We also found that after the spaying she went mental for a few weeks and we felt we had made a mistake having her spayed but once the hormones had subsided she was fine and never had any problems after that.:DI expect Amber will have to wear one of those Victorian coll ars once the op is done so that she doesn't try and lick the wound:)By the way that Excema rash has all but gone on my arm now so the Betnovate did some good in the end.:D

Woo,hope you are flying well and that Penny is feeling a lot better:thumbsup:

We had thick fog this morning when we went into town but looks like the sun is trying to come out now
    .

    Have a good day everyone:)

    Hi Shiney,

Sorry to hear that Oscar definetley has diabetes and he has joined the club:(I expect he will have to have insulin as I have not herad of cats having the type of diabetes that can be controlled by diet but I don't know much about the condition in cats so can't really help.

Thanks for the update and please keep us posted and we all send our love:)

Thanks again WOO for uplifting the photo of Amber and thanks Shiney for refreshing my memory how to do it. For some reason although that is what I try I never seem to get it right. You can see by the face on her she doesn't think much to having her photo taken.

Oh dear so Oscar has joined our diabetes club poor little dear. I wonder if there is a vetinary version of our Metformin that we take. I hope the vet can sort something out for him without taking him in for 24 hours.

I'll try and get a better photo of her and upload it to PB. I used to have a lot of photos on there at one time but deleted them all. Shall have to see what I can do about restoring them.

Well I got all my sheets out on the line but the sun is so low in the sky I don't think it is going to reach down to my whirligig washing line. The boundary wall is in the way and all the neighbours shrubbery which she has allowed to grow to about 16 feet high! blocks out the sun completely.

We're very worried now and have to take Oscar to hospital. His back legs are starting to collapse under him :cry3:. They'll need to give him insulin and keep taking blood to monitor his levels. He hates being around other animals, especially dogs, and that's what will happen at the hospital.

We'll be taking him in 10 minutes.

We're back from the hospital but Oscar will be resident there for a while. The can't start him on his insulin until Monday when they will have more staff in. They will need to monitor him (blood tests) regularly.

He didn't enjoy his car ride :(. We don't have a cage for him and he was in Mrs Shiney's arms all the way. He was very nervous and then started keeping his mouth wide open and his tongue was going in and out.

At the hospital there were two staff on duty, Vikky the vet and Vikky the nurse :). He was very good when they were examining him. The vet carefully checked his back legs, hips and feet but couldn't find any reason for him to be wobbly on them. She said it could be a reaction to having the blood taken yesterday. We said it was possible that he could have strained them (one is more wobbly than the other) when getting up to his bench in the greenhouse or jumping down.

He had happily eaten half a tin of tuna just before we took him so he is eating OK but we don't know if he is drinking enough. Although we suspected he wasn't well because for the last couple of weeks he had been drinking more than normal. We're never sure about this as he drinks from the birds' drinking water. Mrs Shiney suspected he was diabetic because of that.

When they checked him they said he is a bit dehydrated so they will try to get ihm to drink more. Otherwise they will have to put him on a drip.

Although they can't deal with his diabetes until Monday we felt it was better to let him stay there until then - but we miss him.

Once they have been able to stabilise him then he will require two injections per day for the rest of his life. Fortunately they are supposed to be very tiny needles.

I hope the leg problem is only temporary.

The vet said she will phone us tomorrow with an update.

      Get well Oscar :wub2: :kittykiss:

Thank you Shiney for keeping us updated...Oscar is a very popular chap...I understand that cats do sort of 'pant' when they are stressed...bless his little heart...at least they can keep a close whatch on him at the vets and monitor his progress...
Thinking of you and Mrs Shiney...:sunny::sunny::sunny:

Yes, it's a worry about poor Oscar do hope he is going to feel better tomorrow once they get him sorted out a bit perhaps he is feeling weak from the dehydration. What a worry. Bless him he will feel really lost until he can come home again. I am sending healing thoughts and prayers for him.

Lolimac, when you look at Amber she looks older than her wee 6 months doesn't she? Pretty sure she is growing towards her first season, she is definitely laying scent everywhere.

I managed to cut my grass today. Felt I ought to as we have to keep Amber in for 10 days after her op so will need to be able to see where to clean up after her in the garden. It was really a bit on the damp side but by this afternoon it wasn't too bad to cut.
