    Bring it on!! :D

I love a freezing cold winter. Red hot summer. Wet and windy autumn and a spring. That's what I love about Britain, the seasons. I hope we all get snowed in, reminds me that we are all at the mercy of mother nature hence all the more reason to respect it.

Oh No, Hydro, the UK during the Winter is Grey, Cold, Wet, and Miserable:what::rolleyespink: I spent 6 years in Kenya and waking up to Blue Skies, Sun, and a lovely 70f to 80f is just fantastic:hapfeet::happydance: Having said that, I did used to get homesick for the UK while in the Sunshine.

But I always nurtured the theory that our ancestors became Masters of the Seas, invaded countries, raped and pillaged, making a global empire, because we couldn't stand our own cold, damp weather and went in search of sunnier climes.:heehee::heehee::loll:

I've often had the same thought.

But by the same token, our climate is the very reason why Britain has been invaded so many times throughout history.

Being an island once covered in forests and marshes, we have good soil. Our summers rarely lead to long term droughts. Our winters are rarely too harsh. We get plenty of rainfall but rarely get major floods. Its too cool for the worst of the pests, yet warm enough to grow a good range of crops and raise livestock.

Of course you're right, Clueless, but if you're living in a hut made of wood and mud, it's cold and uncomfortable, raining stair rods, and you're looking at some sun tanned legioniares who's just invaded................it's going to give you ideas:D:heehee:

Yes, but the tanned invaders are here to escape the mosquitos that relentlessly eat them alive every time dusk falls in their own country.

Well I never could afford a Quality vehicle
Though going on the prices charged last December, I could have bought one and paid it off over the three weeks

I was snowed in but they had cleared the Main arterial roads,
I had a choice of no work for three weeks = no pay or
£180 for a Range Rover Tow to the main road
About 500 yds, = no brainer paid the money then parked every night on the main road, though the traffic wardens wanted their share too, no yellow lines under three foot of snow but apparently the signs on the lamposts are
            enough :-(

Only ten in my street took the Tow the first day, then it escalated, :-)

Although the forcast is for an even worse winter this year, it will not happen
            WHY
Because Jack McH Has paid for snow tyres, salt and snow shovel, guaranteed 82 degrees until March :-)

If I had a brain I would have bought a secondhand Army Recovery vehicle, and had enough to trade in later for a Range Rover of my own
Hindsight is worth a lot of money Foresight evenmore

When we moved here 40 years ago I bought snow chains for the car and needed to use them almost every year for the first 20 years.

The next 10 years we never got weather bad enough to warrant their need so I gave them to a cousin.

The last 10 years I haven't needed to go anywhere when the snow was deep (and I was here :)) so it's a plentiful stock of food and books in good company for me :dbgrtmb:
