....and Fray Bentos is of course an anagram of 'fry eat nobs' or, if you prefer, 'boney farts'. :D

        Yes of course,

Sorry Mira, you can use the tins as a water dish for your flowerpots, or sterilise them, fill them with Agar Jelly and use them as Petri Dishes for growing Bacterial cultures.:dbgrtmb:

I have never eaten one but the only thing I remember about FB pies is that they were withdrawn from sale for a long time due to using contaminated Beef from Argentina but I think that was in the 70's.
I'm sure they use ENA's as in Brawn.

You can never tell where things are headed on GC. Once that harmless post is out in the ether, you've lost all control. Watch out for the adult-rated 'What's your weather like' thread, mods. It's going to be a stormy night.

                    Well done Mira.
You can tell the garden scene has gone quiet when a simple query gets such attention.
Don't ask about the price of fish. It'll start another tangent:mute:

I think we (well some of us) should remember that all those years ago there was food rationing, no suger, sweets, one egg per person per week, etc., etc., very limited supplies of meat, fresh veg. The FB pie and similar treats like Spam filled the nations bellies. Its marvelous now to have a wide choice of foods and indeed the choice of food preferences, but please remember that even now half the world is starving and would give (metaphorically at least) its right arm for a FB pie. (Here endeth the Lesson)

And unless care is taken opening the tin, they may lose the Arm anyway.
