Premier Foods is recalling some of its Fray Bentos canned meat pies because the pies might contain small pieces of glass. The Agency has issued a Product Recall Information Notice.

Amongst the recalls is FBs 'Boozy' steak and ale pie. With added shards of glass to give you that authentic 'closing time at a Toxteth boozer' feeling.

Hmmm, lovely soggy pastry filled with dubious 'meat?'

I haven't had one for years, but I seem to remember I liked them.

While on the subject of pies ( I used to love fray bentos pies as a child especially the soggy pasrty bit lol) 40 years on and my digestive system rejecting pastry these days Ive steered away from them for many years, Ive just come across some pies called Pooles pies........what can I say apart from they are absolutley delicious. Light crispy pastry with 80% filling which is so rare in these times of reduced quality to save putting the prices up. I have found them in Heron and Asda. Honestly I am not on commision. I wish someone would have told me about these many years ago. Has anyone else come accross these pies, if so what is your verdict? ;)
