lets face facts .... people are waking up

the countries were 'lured' to join the EU ... what happened?

their money printing presses were confiscated, so now they had to borrow money from the central bankers and made to pay hefty interest rates

UK were clever, they knew and decided to keep the money printing presses and decided to keep the pound as currency (we saw news a few days ago that the UK started printing more money because of problems) ... other countries in the EU are unable to do this

big problems lie ahead and people in Greece and Italy are well cheesed off (and not so stupid)... so they have been rioting and throwing petrol bombs

my theory is that the Euro will eventually collapse .... there are already rumours that Germany has started printing deutschemark

lots of complications ... what happens to the the british that have retired/emigrated to other countries in the Euro Zone and vice versa? ... they may no longer be elligable to live there ...

    lots more problems

but bottom line .... people are sick and tired of the big banks taking the p*ss and getting away with murder

I'm just glad we never entered the Euro, it cant work in my opinion, but then what do I know about it.

It just seems to me that years ago Greece would have just devalued the Drachmar or what ever, and life would have gone on.

Its been going on for years, Harold Wilson did it in the 60s.

Now the Euro bunch have tied themselves all together and they are looking like a right bunch of plonkers to the rest of the world.

The Euro is not sustainable, and never has been. It worked while we were living in a bubble, but all bubbles burst sooner or later.

As for the EU, I was a skeptic right from the start, and I was mortified when we let Tony B'liar take power, and give it all to Europe. I couldn't help thinking of the shame, that men like both my grandads and many thousands of other gave up their youth, and in many cases their lives, to keep Britain from being controlled by a foreign power, just for some creep to voluntarily give up control.

But personal feelings aside, we just need to look at history. Choose any point in history you like, and you will find an empire. That empire will have risen to great power, stayed for a while, and then collapsed. All empires do.

Ok, so the EU is not exactly an empire so to speak, but its pretty much the same thing. And like all empires from history, cracks will form (and forming) and it will sooner or later fall apart. My only hope is that this one will be different to all the others, in that when it does fall apart, I hope it doesn't end in bloodshed.

I have always thought we shouldn't have joined the EU, take away a country's independence and you take away the heart of it. In a roundabout way it's dictatorship! It's no wonder the rioting has started.

The demise of the Euro in these countries was bound to have a knock on effect.

The EU has certainly taken the Great out of Britain. Now's the time for us to get it back!

I moved to Portugal ten years ago this month and am still working to the same budget I did when we came. We are very 'budget oriented'. We have been talking to various friends here about the problems in Portugal and we all feel the same ... we are better off here than in the UK. If we were back in the UK one or the other would have to have a job just to survive there.

We are living on pensions paid in pounds which have seriously suffered with the Euro of recent years, and some income from rental property. But we live very well, eating out three times a week at least. Okay, we don't have any mortgages or owe anyone anything because we sorted that out before we moved here.

We have two cars ... just taxed mine which was €53, in the UK the very same vehicle would have been £245. The rates for my old cottage is €8 per year .. yes, that's eight Euros as the house was built before 1950. Metered mains water (and I live in the country) is about €12 per month and as we have only had three days of rain in the past 5 1/2 months that's pretty good as I have a tropical/sub-tropical garden which I have to water daily and sometimes twice a day. Must admit gasoline costs more. Electricity is about the same but we don't use much as we rarely need heating or light ... currently it is 22c and we may only drop another 2 degrees overnight.

So, we don't really care what the press says ... we KNOW what it costs us to live here and what it would cost us if we went back to the UK.

Did we make a wrong move? ... we don't think so ...

Local paper mill makes special paper for currency for Europe and other countries, have just had a very large order from Germany ?
Why the paper is ordered from Germany I do not know, as I understand it
All currency is printed by De La Rue UK

              Maybe for Deutch Marks again

              Maybe its Euros for Greece.

Maybe its a 50/50 split of Euros and Deutschmarks. Deutschmarks ready for an withdrawal from the Euro, and Euros to air drop all over Europe to devalue the currency.

                  Why Is Germany Printing Deutschmarks?

They built up an army without telling anyone.

I do not know what the currency paper is for, the paper mill is the only one that is allowed/has the technical knowlege for the special paper, and as I said in my original post, I understood only De La Rue actually print currencies

It could be to swap the Euro notes for Drachmas in Greece

Or Germany pulling out (I believe they are the biggest contributor bailing out the Greek Fiasco)

At first I could understand the EC, although I voted against joining.

It was a club of countries that agreed to trade with one another, fine idea.

Problems come when you invite everybody to join, then there is no advantage to belonging to the club.

Then you come up with a single currency that means the richer countries have to pour money into the poorer ones until they are on the same level.
                    Recipe for disaster.

Add to that the enormous cost of running the set up, complete with all the corrupt dead beat politicians involved and you can see its bound to fail.
Just wish it would do it quick so we can start to sort out the aftermath.
