Yes, wrong type of tree :heehee: :loll:

Sycamore leaves don't rot down very easily. :cry3:

The bigger the pile of leaves the better it is but putting in bags or bins works OK.

Here's a quick guide about leaf composting.

Don't forget to moisten your piles. :heehee:

at one of the homes I work at, I mow the lawn with the leaves on the grass, (lawnmower raised a notch) and the leaves get shredded by the mower ...

I place all the cuttings (including the bit of grass cuttings) into a compost bin .... add a bit of water, and it rots down a lot faster than using leaves that have not been shredded

Exactly what I do *Dim*, I rake all the leaves into a big pile and run the mower over them, as you say, they rot down much faster.

I had half an hour earlier today where I was trying to decide whether I had too much shame to go out and nab the mountain of leaves further along on my road.

There were too many people milling about, so I bottled it!

I should have done it because tomorrow I'll either have to do it at 5.30 am or at 9pm.
That's got to look more strange hasnt it?!

Either put the community service jump suit on or better still just a hi viz jacket & no one will take any notice.

If you are wearing the full kit, you can walk into even the highest security gigs without being questioned.

:OUCH: Not the Urban Leaf Police:shocked:

Guerilla Leaf Sweepers strike again, authorities were baffled again last night as entire avenues were mysteriously cleaned up.

Along with the now finished current series I have been watching Gardeners world re-runs on Sky recently, so I dont know if the following was from last Friday..or the re-runs.

Monty stated he liked to use Beech leaves for his leaf mould as they break down faster, he also mentioned that larger leaves such as sycamore take longer to break down as they have a tendancy to stick together. Mowing them or putting them through a shredder should aid break down, he also jiggles the bags around periodically.

I just pile mine up wetting them as I go, then cover with some old carpet then leave for a couple of years.

                  Steve...:)

I find picking them up with a lawnmower then storing them in black plastic bin liners works best for me
