Bravado usually fizzles out pretty quickly when the reality of the situation becomes apparent.

I must admit I thought he was out the country and living in luxury somewhere, I'm sure Mugabe would have taken him in.:D

But I do admire the fact he stuck around and took what was coming even though he was probably on the run at the time.

I just think the people of that world are so screwed up. They're all queueing up now with cameras to have family photos with Gadaffi's rotting (and smelling) corpse. Is that a civilised country. Nope. And "democracy" will bring them civil war and islamic extremists as in Egypt. Cameron may think he has got his oil but at what price, negotiating and no doubt providing foreign aid cash to another mainly Muslim country with grim human rights... no better than it was before. Cash for oil and turning a blind eye on atrocities.

I can't believe how judgemental people are being. The country has been a mess for the past god knows how long and people expect them to go from how they were to a civilised democaracy over night. They have been living under brutal sharia law for over ten years. Caught stealing cut of a hand and foot. They are all victims over there and we don't know the day we are born we have it so easy. Sitting on our sofas judging.
For me, I think a line should be drawn in the sand from the day he died, anything after that they can't blame on gaddafi anything before that was his own doing.
I don't think It's screwed up at all, just human nature.

good post ... but becomes a bit more complex as there are different cultures with different beliefs .... we have our own, and they have theirs .... we think our's is right, and they think theirs is right

on news right now, it has been stated that Libya will be ruled by Sharia law, that is what the people want

in Arab countries, they chop off a hand if you steal .... they have very few thieves in their country

In the USA, they still hang people or electrocute them in a chair if found guilty .... how many have been wrongly found guilty and have been executed?

In the USA, they torture you if you oppose their beliefs .... you are then labelled a terrorist and sent to a prisoner of war camp and tortured

In china, if you are a tibetan, you are in big trouble

In Zimbabwe, if you are white .... you are doomed

the whole world is messed up .... it's sad

                    :rolleyespink:

I doubt if its quite that black and white.

"we have our own", who is "we"? A good range of different views has come out just in this thread alone.

"they have theirs", again, who are "they"?

And who said "the people" want Sharia law? Have they had a vote, and if so have at least 51% of the people said they want Sharia law?

My point is, this isn't about Libyan views vs British or US or Chinese views. It's real, ordinary people.

We should remember that Gadaffi was hailed a national hero by ordinary Libyans when he was a young revolutionary. Now there has been another revolution and he has been ousted from power in the most ultimate way, by revolutionaries. The current revolutionaries will ultimately choose their head revolutionary to take power. Some people will agree with the choice, some wont. If they new leader tows the western line, we'll hear no more of it. If he doesn't tow the western line, then those Libyans that don't like the choice of new leader will find support from NATO in ousting him in favour of a new revolutionary leader.

That's what Armand said too :D

I think the entire story is going to make an amazing blockbuster one day. Maybe not even that far away. I wonder who would play Gaddafi....Jackie Stallone?? :heehee:
