There is a distinct resemblance. Although Muammar was more your natural beauty.

I think we live in an extraordinary world - especially in relation to relative priorities.

For instance, in this country, 2,500 people a year die on the roads and we have thousands of traffic police (quite rightly) trying to stop people driving dangerously and trying to reduce that number. But we have 130,000 people a year die from smoking - and I have yet to see a single anti-smoking policeman.

The same in Libya. Thousands of people, including many innocent civilians, have been killed recently - and I see no call for investigations into any of those deaths. But when Gaddafi, who was not innocent, is killed - there is an outcry for an investigation.

I was in Manchester city centre a year or so ago. And there was a bunch of libyan men protesting in the high street, they had leaflets and stuff and were shouting how their friends and family were in prison for political views ect they were talking about other crimes by Gaddafi too like rape, murder and the usual stuff dictators do.
I must have been the only person in Manchester that was listening and signed an appeal for our goverment to stop helping him. (they nearly begged me). Now he is dead the whole world wants to have their say. But before, who cared...I think it is because it was caught on camera and we know him??...where as thousands of dead unknown civilians not on the camera on tv is just a statistic

I would like to correct some views on the futility of the Iraq war and the accusation of Britain getting too close to Libya. That doesn't mean that I am disagreeing with your comments HYDROGEN.

There is no question that Sadam Hussein was in the process of acquiring nuclear weapons just before the first Iraq war. Iraqi officials have acknowledged that, but they also said that the first war so devastated Iraq that Sadam Hussein was no longer able to go down that path. So there is an argument to say that the second Iraq war was not necessary. But whilst we didn't have positive proof of weapons of mass destruction, we also didn't have knowledge that they had been abandoned.

But what is rather less well known is that the second Iraq war had a profound effect on Libya. Gaddafi was also in the process of acquiring nuclear weapons from North Korea, and North Korean centrifuges, which are used for making weapons grade material, were intercepted in the process of being shipped to Libya around the time of the second Iraq war. I think that Gaddafi, like most bullies, was also a coward. And realising that America was capable of invading, owned up to his nuclear weapons program, once his centrifuges were discovered. There was a very good program about this - on the proliferation on nuclear weapons technology from Pakistan to North Korea and outwards from there. It was the act of being caught red-handed and the fear of American invasion that was the cause of the sudden turn around in Gaddafi's attitude to the west. And I think it was to encourage this new attitude that the west including Britain had closer ties with Libya. Without the second Iraq war, Libya with all its wealth might well have had nuclear weapons by now, and history might be very different.

          a very good post ....

however, It all depends on which newspaper you are reading, and you should research further and read what is discussed on 'conspiracy' sites where freedom of speech is allowed .... and then double check the facts with sites such as Google if this subject interests you...

this subject is currently receiving huge interest on all conspiracy sites and is being discussed in great detail by some very educated and clever people

          but in a nutshell:

Saddam wanted weapons to defend his country against Israel (which has nuclear weapons) .... His country was attacked (by countries that have nuclear weapons) because he booted out the USA oil barons and refused to comply to their rules and regulations ...

His country had no weapons of mass destruction when invaded, and when Dr Kelly told the truth, he was 'suicided' ...

9/11 was an excuse to go to 'oil' war and protect the assets of the oil barons and protect the dollar

Saddam was in the process of arranging that oil be sold for gold and/or the euro ... His country was one of the few remaining that did not have a Rothchild central bank (which it now has)

exactly what Gaddafi done .... threatened to sell oil for gold dinars, and Libya was a country that did not have a Rothschild central bank (you guessed right .... it is being set up right now and is a certainty)

even the Vatican have now called for a World Central Bank??

In the year of 2000 there were only eight (important) countries without a Rothschild owned Central Bank:

          Afghanistan
          Iraq
          Sudan
          Libya
          Cuba
          North Korea
          Iran
          Venezuela

The only countries left in 2003 without a Central Bank owned by the Rothschild Family were:

          Sudan
          Libya
          Cuba
          North Korea
          Iran
          Venezuela

The only countries left in 2011 without a Central Bank owned by the Rothschild Family are:

          Cuba
          North Korea
          Iran (oil producing nation)
          Venezuela (oil producing nation)

          so watch this space ....

I recently posted a very long post on this forum, giving the history of the Central Bank .... this post was removed, as some felt it was innapropriate for this forum and some felt offended ....

got a mild 'slap' from the mods, but point was taken ... however, at the end of the day, it relates to exactly what is happening right now and what may/most probably happen in the very near future

lots more to all this, and I have just summarised the main points

herewith another interesting video currently circulating the internet:

Gaddafi gold-for-oil, dollar-doom plans behind Libya 'mission'? - YouTube

Thats a good point Dim, it'll be interesting to see what happens, assuming we make it past the 28th of this month.

read about the 28th, but experience has shown me that these doom days never happen (yet) ... better not happen on the 28th (it's my birthday)

after the 28th, another date will be forecast, then another ....

then we will be into 2012, and then the Mayan doomsday will be discussed

then in 2013, they will say the mayan calander was misread and they will say it 2015 ... etc etc

Hopi have been pretty accurate so far .... from what I understand, a 'dwelling in the sky' has to fall down first ....(international space station has been having some problems lately?)

Excuse me, but Britains top weapons expert and UN weapons inspector in Iraq, Dr David Kelly, told the Blair government there was no evidence any still existed. And he got eliminated for his troubles.:dbgrtmb:

Dim - I think you have been looking at too many conspiracy sites - they are what they say - just conspiracies.

I note that your last video and some earlier ones were from RT - Russian Television. RT is owned and run by the Russian Government and is their propaganda mouthpiece. I do watch a certain amount of RT programs. Its always useful to see another angle. However I am struck by the fact that it is heavily biased and does dish up some utter rubbish. It is not at all balanced. They continually go on about the US invading other countries (true) - but they also harp on about how Russia has helped the poor people of South Osetia. South Osetia was only created after Russia invaded the independent country of Georgia, and took part away to be called South Osetia.

I also watch Al Jazeera. At the time of the second Gulf War, I assumed it was very biased against the West and in favor or Moslem extremists. I have to admit I was quite wrong. I find it a generally fair and balanced view on world affairs. I have been surprised at how different its coverage of the Libyan uprising has been compared to the Russian view. On Arab affairs, I would trust Al Jazeera's view much more than the Russians.

I round my TV watching off with Judge Judy. A favorite saying of hers is that 'if it makes no sense its probably not true'. I apply this test to conspiracy theories.

Dai - whilst David Kelly said that he saw no evidence of WMD, without full cooperation on inspections, I think he would have been the first to say that no one could be sure. Anyway I am not supporting or criticising the second gulf war. I am just saying that without it Gaddafi would very possibly have acquired nuclear weapons.

Whilst David Kelly's death was very sad, I think it was most unlikely that he was eliminated. - Why? What would be the point? He had already said all that was neccessary. As Judge Judy says 'if it makes no sense its probably not true'.

Oh well ... the wars never stop

rumour has it that Israel will strike against Iran very shortly ....

and what makes matters worse is that Iran says they are well prepared and will hit back hard

so, do we see any nuclear weapons used this time round?

                hope it's just 'chest beating'

I read that NATO are setting up bases in Lithuania, which would be a perfect platform for airstrikes against Iran...
