When my son was small, he suffered from car sickness, even on short trips. Whenever he became ill, he always used to demand a large Coke, on the grounds that it cured his upset immediately. We always suspected that this was just a way of getting us to buy junk. However, it turns out to be true ... the phosphoric acid in cola is a very good antidote to motion sickness!

I thought travel sickness was a thing of the past anyway.

Not seen those rubber strips trailing behind a car for years:D

As for Phosphoric acid, its good for cleaning up old coins.
Along with HP sauce of course.

I thought those dangly strips were to stop you getting that funny electric shock thing when you touched the car door. Don't see how they could have an effect on motion sickness - which is basically to do with your body getting confused signals. (That's why they tell you to look at the horizon if you get sea sick. Mind you, I've been on a few trips where it was better to keep your eyes shut!)

I wonder if those tiger tails people used to fix to the back of their cars turned them into beautiful, agile and ferocious beasts? :heehee:

Well I was once told that they grounded the negative charge from the vehicle, most being negative earth these days.

Never believed it myself but as Dai says, tell someone it works and they will feel much better.

But then I've never been travel sick.

They are designed to prevent the build up of static electricity. That is also why they are called anti static straps. click me

I have always believed in this as I have sadly always had a dodgy tummy from time to time. I can go back to the 70s when I worked in Law in the States and from time to time I would have to go sit in the Library of the office and have a Coca Cola (supplied free even in those days) but it was cold and fizzy.

Strangely this has been mentioned because both t'other half and I had dodgy tummies overnight and we had a lot to do today out and about for hours, so I took a Loperaminda (generic of Imodium) and when we stopped for lunch I ordered a diet Coke which I never do normally.

Besides that, Coca Cola is good for various things ... in the South (Alabama) where bugs were rife, we used it for cleaning the windscreens of cars .. but here are some other uses ...
