    I dont agree, it speads s l o w l y.
It dont jump over garden fences, and it was definitely spread by the builders, whilst doing the ground works on the house.

There was probably a clump of the stuff growing within the boundary and they just ploughed it in.

I new that creosote had been banned and that it would make the ground unusable for some while. But I think I would rather put up with that than have my house destroyed.

Regarding my brothers use of it, he was clearing the ground to lay a large concrete base for a pigeon loft so it wasn't a problem. :)

I find it very hard to believe that any plant cannot be stopped by thick membrane and concrete, unless of course the Japs have bred a plant with a Kango gun. Plus the use of toxins I do not think I would have advised the authorties at all, but dealt with the problem quietly

My husband was listening to the Jeremy Vine show today on Radio 2 where an expert was talking about this couples predicament. He said the house wouldn't have to be demolished and offered to visit their home free of charge, to advise them on what needs to be done. The treatment he says will not require them to move out with the children even though the knotweed will be treated with a systemic killer.

Would that be the same as Brits being British people?

"Brits" always came over as derogatory when used by the IRA, as far as I'm concerned.
But its freely used and we just accept it.:)
As we accept most things these days.

            Oriental knot weed, sounds better.:D

Aren`t there music awards called the Brits? Therefore, that word is NOT derogatory. Refering to people as " Japs" is. So cut it out.

I would suggest Gentlemen, that we calm things down and agree to disagree.:D

People often use abbreviations of racial titles and we will all have to accept that. Whether you interpret those abbreviations as insulting is a matter of personal thought. Possibly those abbreviations are better than some of the more racist names that are uttered by extremist views but again it comes down to your own thoughts. Either way I would ask that you refrain from heated remarks and get back to the original subject.

                So back on topic.

Wonder why the first port of call is a solicitor? :rolleyespink::scratch::mute:

"Mr Jones learnt about the superweed when he called in an expert from Broxbourne Council.
'He took one look and knew what it was straight away. He told us to get a solicitor involved,' said Mr Jones."

Maybe because the guy from the council knew from experience that there was nothing that could be done to stop it, so he was thinking for them to sue the builder from the yard or who ever is responsible. Also maybe to advise them they can be sued if it leaves there property.
Can't they live in harmony with it? Kinda like a houseplant?
