Hi all - new to the forum and looking for some help...

My wife is keen to find a weeping blossom tree which will grow to a maximum of 4 ft, so smaller than the half standard.

We have tried a couple of places already, however no luck, as most trees seem to be growing to 6 ft and beyond.

I have spied a couple on the web, however they've been in the US.

Does anyone have any ideas as to where I could source such a tree?

    Thanks in advance

Why does it have to be 4ft max? Welcome to the site, by the way.

    Thanks for the welcome!

Various reasons, mostly to ensure it doesn't encroach onto public footpath or over the neighbours fence - as it would be overhanging their BBQ...

Also my wife is very specific about what she's after - particularly as she knows that they do exist, it just seems to be a problem sourcing them over here...

The 2 trees for outside the front of the house are just to fill a space, as we are replacing some large decorative stones which are breaking up.

The tree for the back garden is to be the main focus in a small garden of remembrance.

Not pussy willow, weeping cherry. A half standard, grafted Cheal`s Weeping Cherry is NOT going to encroach on anyones property. Buy it, and enjoy.:dbgrtmb:

    Thanks Dai.

I've seen one on mailordertrees.co.uk and it says they grow to 2.5m by 2/5m over 20 years.

The wife is looking for something that goes to a maximum of 4 feet by 4 feet.

Do you know where I could source grafted that small?

A grafted half standard is NOT going to grow that big, it`s rootstock is going to keep it around the 6ft mark. And no, I don`t think you will get one smaller.

Ok, any ideas of something similar that will stay around the 4 ft height when fully grown?

Thanks, I'll put it to the Mrs.

If there are any other ideas, though, keep them coming.

This is something that's really important to us, especially to my wife, so the more things I can find for her the better! :dbgrtmb:

Zac, why not take the missus to your local garden centre in the spring and see what is available in your area?:dbgrtmb:

Makes sense Dai. It seems that a lot of the trees that the wife is looking for are available from November but if we don't find anything in the short term, I think that's the way to go... :dbgrtmb:
