I'm a seller on Folksy.com (the U.K. based site, Etsy.com is U.S. based). I sell mosaic bird baths, and other garden ornaments, funnily enough. I can recommend Folksy as a really nice, friendly site to buy from. And you can get some really good deals on there too. Some people are only selling as a bit of a hobby so they are only covering the cost of the materials.

Do you think I'd be able to link to a blog post that I did as a Christmas gift idea list with a big selection of garden items from Folksy, just to give you an idea of the things you can find on there?

(Part of the reason I'm asking is some of my items are in the list, so I don't want to just post it without checking first. I should add it's on my Designing blog, not my Gardening blog.)

    Jo :)

Hi Jo Sara, interesting, I did not know about this FOLKSY.
Are sellers all UK based in FOLKSY? It is just that there seems to be an awful lot of sellers from UK in the ETSY site.

      Thanks, guys and gals. :)

I'm really trying to create something a bit different from the usual stuff you can find on the high street, and in the garden centres.

I'll post up my blog link. This was done a few weeks ago, so some of the things might not be available anymore, but it gives you an idea what you can get on Folksy. There's a nice range of items, and prices included. Hope you like my selections -

Sorry, miraflores, I've just spotted your question.

The majority of sellers on Folksy.com are UK based. It's the UK's version of Etsy, just not as big. Size is probably why there are so many UK sellers on Etsy. If the things you make can easily, and cheaply, be shipped you'll probably have a go on there for a wider audience. Plus the fees are slightly better then selling on Ebay. Although, I've heard your items can also get lost very easily on Etsy too because it is so crowded.

I'm sticking with Folksy for my handmade things because realistically the shipping costs for international buyers would be too expensive.

Oh, and if you go onto Folksy and find the Search facility a bit naff, they are improving it mid this month. :thumb:

          Thanks, CG. :)

Just a quick note to let you all know the search facility has just been amended on Folksy, so you can now search by Category, Price, Colour etc.

Much easier than the old way.

Have a nosey and see what you think - Folksy - Modern British Craft (It has only recently changed over to the new-look site, so there may be a few glitches still. Bear with it.)
