This was forwarded to me. Awareness of it seems to be advisable.

    Postal Scam:

Can you circulate this around especially as Xmas is fast approaching - it has been confirmed by Royal Mail. The Trading Standards Office are making people aware of the following scam:

A card is posted through your door from a company called PDS (Parcel Delivery Service) suggesting that they were unable to deliver a parcel and that you need to contact the m on 0906 6611911 (a Premium rate number).

DO NOT call this number, as this is a mail scam originating from Belize
    .

If you call the number and you start to hear a recorded message you will already have been billed £315 for the phone call.

If you do receive a card with these details, then please contact Royal Mail Fraud on 020 7239 6655.

if you are pay as you go, they won't be able to bill you £315 for the call ... you may loose the remaining credit you have

perhaps it works from a home phone?

Could be so AXL, but none the less, all should be very wary of any sort of request to call an 0900.......#

Its on the current Crimestoppers listing for the North-East, so it may have been resurrected.

            AXL is correct :dbgrtmb:

This is the old scam/hoax still going the rounds but has been updated to show a possible payment of £315 instead of the £15 that was on the old one.

The phone number is still shown as the same one which was turned off by ICSTIS (the regulator) in Dec 2005. ICSTIS is now PhonepayPlus.

It was originally a scam to get you to call the Premium Rate number but the warning was a hoax. No Premium Rate phone call can cost more than £1.50 per minute.

It's a good rule of thumb to never phone any Premium Rate number when you are sent an email from someone you don't know - or to phone any number unless you are expecting the email.

Well, whether its current or not, I think it at least serves to remind us to be a little bit careful with what we believe when reading the post that comes through our letterboxes.

I think shiney is spot on.

I think the £315 is a bit of an urban myth - I find the mob at Hoaxslayers pretty good at giving info at this sort of thing -
