My tomatoes turned red, but the skin on some is like russet apple or pear, sort of fine scaley
    They taste OK
Would it be the cold done this, or suggestions please

    Regards Jack McHammocklashing

I had that too on one plant this year Jack, wasn't sure if it was a virus or just that plant. I had a few rogue ones come up from the worm bin that I let grow on.

I just dropped em in boiling water for 45 secs & then plunged them into cold water to get the skins off.

It could be a virus Jack, I think the cold damp weather doesn't help, because the plants are struggling to grow they are more susceptible to pests and diseases.

It does look like a virus to me. There are a few and I don't know them well enough to say which one. Are all the fruit affected on each plant? If you have plant growing alongside with nice clean fruit then it's a virus for sure in the other plants.

The money maker and gardeners delight fruits were fine, (four) the two shirley were both the same like russet apples (two)
All six were Jamie Oliver selection, shireley being larger fruits I just thought the longer time to develop the cold had got them

Is it ok to compost or is it a bonfire job/recycle bin
