Unfortunately the Hospitals are kept busy on Bonfire night (and a couple of nights either side) with like-minded people.
Fireworks (particularly the bigger ones supplied today) are not pretty little decorations. They are EXPLOSIVES. The damage that can be caused ranges from Burns through Blindness to Death.
As the beer flows, the safe area reduces and the dangers increase.
You can go to organised displays, enjoy your drinks, be controlled by marshalls and walk home - SAFELY.

Last year some neighbours of ours bought a small box of fireworks to let off in their garden as they felt their toddler was too young (because of the crowds and lateness of the event) to be taken to an organised display. The box cost about £10 or thereabouts, from what I saw there were about 6 fireworks in it and more fun would have been had if he'd set light to the £10 note ..... it would certainly have burnt for longer!

But i don't want a dog I like fireworks. Let's talk about dog poo in bags hanging from trees everywhere? No let's not. How many little kiddies have been killed by dogs lately, or injured including adults. All year round. Yes because of bad owners in all cases more than likely but It's the same with fireworks just because some people abuse them does not meen they should be banned.
You just don't like the banging and you want them banned.

And as for bring controlled by marshals I think I would rather take the chance and not be controlled by anyone :dbgrtmb:

Hydrogen - I also don't want a dog. I like Fireworks. I have for the last 20 years supported a local Display which has grown to nearly 10k people who enjoy the spectacle in safety. No firework related incidents in all that time. I will be there on Saturday - with my Grandson and his Mam & Dad.
I agree with the Dogpoo bags being unacceptable and the fact that desease from the faeces is potentially hazardous - especially kids.

I still insist the idea of drunks being in charge of a family firework display is insane. Check the news stories from now until Monday. There will be serious injuries or worse every day. None of them will be from organised displays which are correctly controlled.

Anyone in the Newcastle area - here's a link to the Display on Saturday:-
