    my 16 year old daugher (full time at college) applied for a part time job at a sandwich bar in Cambridge

    question on the application form:

    why do you want this job?

    her reply:

    my dad does not give me enough pocket money, and I want to buy an iphone and new Ugg boots

    manager interviewed her and gave her the job .... he said he likes 'honesty'

    times have have changed?

                    felt guilty ... gave her £90 towards Ugg boots ,,, she is happy, smiled broadly and geve me a kiss and a hug

                    however ....

                    now my 18 year old son (also full time at college) ... says that it's not fair that she got money and he did not

                    my wife agrees with him

                    So many people (adults aswell as children) don't and it's the best lesson you'll ever learn in life !

                    it's strange

                    some people (like me) just never seem to be able to save money even if I earn good money

                    typical example ... a little trip to Tesco tonight cost be nearly £30 .... went to buy 3 Pizzas, a few beers and to buy the lotto and health lotto

                    ended up buying a few beers aswell and some biscuits etc .... nearly spent £30

                    even when I was earning very good money, I just could not manage to save ...

                    then I see people earning loads less than me, they eat similar food, have better houses, wear better clothes, have annual holidays and drive better cars?

                    I must be jinksed

                    earning money and saving it are two different things!

                    You have to work double hard to save it than to earn it.

                    It is called DEBT, and these people live in SPAM VALLEY

                    SPAM VALLEY
                    Up here we have grocery vans and fish vans, arrive in the street each day toot the horn and you go out and get what you need
                    There is a local posh estate, all drives with gates and 7 series BMWs
                    Whenever the van calls the wife pops out for "2oz of Spam for the cat" or "fish offcuts"
                    In reality this is hubby's dinner :-) thus the title SPAM VALLEY :heehee:

                      I'm lucky. At school we had a teacher that taught us how to value what we had and how to save the proper way. Added to my inbred stingyness this has stood me in good stead :heehee:. Of course, I'm now Mr No Mates but those are the breaks!!!! :loll: :loll: :loll: :loll:
