A fellow gardener showed me a brochure she'd sent for - i'd not heard of Pococks Roses before - have any of you ordered from them - or heard of them ? !

I love the look of one called 'Lavender Ice' and quite fancy getting that - "low bushy growth ..... enormous trusses of rosette shape lavender blue flowers"
    Sounds wonderful - i want :D

There are some beautiful roses in there and i could get quite carried away :D

Good morning Louise:)I have visited their nursery in Romsey Hampshire and have purchased stock from them ,I find them one of the most knowledgeable and friendly Rose grower,s in the business, and their website is second to none plus they are a member of the HTA. Pococks Roses not only came away with a Gold medal, but also the award for the Best Rose Exhibit at the Hampton Court Flower Show,This is only my own personal opinion,Hope this is of some help to you my friend:)

Oooh no 'Blue Moon,' but 'Twice in a Blue Moon.' Says it's the modern replacement, and has better growth habits, more flowers, the same scent and easier to grow.....:D

Sounds like a win win all round :D

        Just a bit of trivia:WINK1:

As with other roses, lavender roses have their own special meanings which have evolved over the years of their existence. The lavender rose is often a sign of enchantment and love at first sight. Those who have been enraptured by feelings of love and adoration have used lavender roses to express their romantic feelings and intentions. The color purple also has a traditional association with royalty. In this regard, shades of lavender roses can suggest an air of regal majesty and splendor.:dbgrtmb::)

In the current Garden News is an article called " 50 BEST ROSES " and Pocock is one of the 9 suppliers choosing their 5 each. The 10th place going to the GN Rose expert Tony Bracegirdle. Stewart Pocock must have a thing about climbers and ramblers, as all his 5 choices are of that ilk. Bit miffed though as only one of our 16 roses features, and that is Moody Blue.!

Hi Wise Owl i left the OLD out as im pretty sure your not old ..
The Ramblers i had delivered are 2x Francis Lester and 1x Blush Rambler
i already have a Francis Lester growing along a fence .. it has a beautiful soft scent and a mass of flowers in the Spring .. the first year it grew 3 metres , exactly what i wanted .. the Blush Rambler is another very vigourous grower and again a beautiful flower ..[IMG]

Francis lester is similar to look at but more like a Bramble type hedgerow Rose ..[IMG] i have 11 Roses now around the garden .. cant wait for Summer .. Micky
