    What
Well I think it is what is called a day lilly (no idea but it looks like what I would call a lilly)
Bare stalk about 3' high then four large 5" white flowers each with stamens very orange and powder goes everywhere sticks on everything and smells a strong

Now died down to a bare stick 3' high

I intended to re-pot it as I needed the larger pot

After easing the soil, still solid so I pulled on the large stem, "it came away in me hand chief" honest

I retrieved a large multi bulb/corm about four inches diameter with 12 cloves around it and a hole in the middle where the stem err had been

Is this now a dead parrot, or will it grow again ?

One of the ways of propagating Lillies is to peel off the outer corms and pot them on.
I watched Carole Klein doing the same a few months ago.

With a bit of luck, and a tailwind, you should be able to get 4-5 plants for next year. They may not flower in the first year though.
The parent should be OK and it will probably flower. Most of the goodness from the stem will have already been passed back to the corm.

I may be wrong of course, buit whats to lose?

What's really worrying is that, at my age, I can walk upstairs or into the kitchen and forget why - yet I remember what I heard Carole Klein said months ago!

Am I destined to do repeats of Gardeners World in my mind throughout my dotage?

          Thanks for that

          Thanks,
For your post and the later hunting down what I need to do much appreciated

Well according to the pic at the beginning of the video at least I have it right it is a Lilly :-)
I may have killed the original it having no centre now
Though it seems I may get five or six bulbs later years to come so ALL is not lost

          Regards Jack McH
