On saturday I also got a load of willow poles off my dad. By sunset on saturday we'd built a (hopefully) living willow house in the garden, which will function as a den for the lad, but also mask off some of the unsightly neighbour:dbgrtmb:

I know the rose Compassion, Jack, as I've just planted it on one side of my Arbor, but I had to look up Wenlock, Alan Titchmarsh and Munstead Wood. They're nice roses, let us know how they perform next year!! That gas mains could have proved interesting, Jack:D:heehee:

Yeah I kept battering until the spade was a bit distressed, so I thought I would use a trowel to clear the soil around to lift the large stone out :-)

I do have some very large buried limestones/rocks in the garden about a foot down
last one was 3'x2'x2' The reason I did not take a slege hammer to it, as it would be fruitless :-)

At least the Gas board do not send me letters every week as the Water board do.
Advising me to take out insurance as I am now resposible for the water supply from the mains to my house ?

Where did you order yours from? I have a landscaping project to do, hedging and native trees is what's required and I'm looking for a reliable, cheap supplier. I'm especially interested in decent sized silver birch trees. Can some of you good people recommend on-line suppliers.

I've just planted the three bare root climbing roses down by the pond and now looking forward to the next two years watching them grow to their ideal height before pruning:yess::D

I'm so glad I garden on sand, Hydro:thumbsup::D At least starting from new, as I did, all you really have to do is keep adding humus and compost to stop it draining so quickly and being so "hungry". What's in the "native tree" collection you've planted, Hydro!"!!!!:D
