I don't know about the N.E.C. but the Royal Opera House costs 55.000 for the day...
Anyway there's hundreds of halls (Conway hall in Holborn for example is massive and the price is very contained), church halls (although we may have a problem there if they don't like alcohol on the premises)etc which I am sure by now in a period of crisis they must be very cheap.
