I was out in the garden yesterday doing a general tidy up. The warm/damp weather we have been having ,up here in the Forth valley has all my Geraniums still showing colours,red/white and lush green leaves. The grass is lush green, the roses still showing colour,Petunias still in colour and various other shrubs and flowers looking extremely well, for this time of year.. This Is The Up Side in the garden..

This Is The Down Side------- MIDGES:mad:..
I have bites on my hand, arms, leg/ankle and two on my face!!!!
the only thing they missed is My Bum!! but its early days yet.:wallbang:.

Well, your up side sounds good music. :)

The down side............those midges are one of the few things that stopped my family moving to Scotland a number of years back.

I was up there in the highlands a few years back, I'd driven through the night to get to our 'base' and stopped off just after dawn in a lay-by to let our dog out to do what was necessary. Just three minutes and the midges had come from nowhere, thousands of them (well that's what it seemed like) and I'd left the car door open, it was running alive inside and took us ten minutes to get rid of them with a wet cloth! A lesson learnt very quickly, don't leave anything open! :)

Its mozzies that's the problem round here. You'd think we lived in the rain forest or something.

A couple of months ago, I thought it was just something freaky about my house, but then I read on the BBC news website that its all over the UK.

Well, I'm glad I'm not the only one who's garden is topsy turvy from the effects of the mild weather.:D

I remember the midges from a long time back when fishing off an island in the mouth of a Loch. The wind had dropped while we were fishing and I was trying to tie a knot on the line when I realised my whole world was reduced down to what I was trying to do........with difficulty!!! I then realised that my face, scalp, hands felt that they were on fire..........Midges!!!:help::cry3: We had to stop fishing and cover up until the wind picked up which the Midges didn't seem to like.:D I am so glad that they don't venture down to Cheshire!:D

    Midgies:-

Look out your local Avon Rep.

Ask for Soft & Fresh Dry Oil Body Spray. (only have the Green one)

It's a repellant for Midgies, Mosquitoes etc. Years ago the BBC did a feature on it. It seems to work.
