I'm afraid its all the rage to completely destroy beautiful things.

When you put a tarmac path down the middle of an open space, it does two things. Firstly, it obviously spoils the vista. Secondly, it subliminally says "This is where you will walk, you will not explore, there are no surprises, you will stick to the path and ignore your surroundings".

They just can't leave the 'green' bits alone can they! Ruined! :(

          My thinking entirely Clueless.
Its always been a place where you just wandered where you liked, paths of kinds were cut in the long grass areas in summer.

The parts that were close mowed were just that, wide open mowed areas for picnics or a game of knock about football.

They are even allowing odd strips of long grass to grow in the areas that were usually close mowed, using conservation as the reason.
It looks like a complete dogs breakfast that way.

There is even one area, a large sloping bank that was close mowed, it has one or two interesting trees planted there, its a fairly damp area and shady due to the amount of trees.

The grass was about 2ft high this summer.

I'm reliably informed this is going to be "transformed into a beautiful wild flower meadow, but it wont happen over night".

I take this to mean, it will be left to just get on with it, and look a mess.
          Saves cutting it anyway.:(

Reason I dont do it John, is because when I did, I never won a thing and decided I'd be better saving my money.

Val, I worked ouit it was not actually a gamble when they could tell you in a matter of minutes how many winners there was.
                Its fixed in my opinion.

Remember the time years ago when something went wrong and they ended up having to pay out larger than estimated amouts of tenners.

Same here. That's why when I used to go out boozing a lot when I was younger, I was probably the only young man I knew that played bingo.

When I was an apprentice in the Shipyards, we used to go to the local workmens club, non member signed in
                Played the bingo

One night I won the full house £7 (two weeks wages)
They would not pay out as I was not a member

Fortunately one of my foremen came up and stated I was playing HIS ticket
I got the money and gave him a £1 (16 pints of brown ale OR four pints of brown ale, a night at the pictures, a fish and chip supper and ten bob left to go home with)

Yet more improvements have taken place in the last week.

Someone, appears to have gone crazy with a tractor and run down a fair few sapling oaks, who knows why? Its well away from any building works and in the so called wildlife part.

They also appear to want to watch what we are doing,
                Big brother and all that.

3 @ 8 metres high is hardly going to blend in with the enviroment.

Do you know who is in charge of the 'improvements'? During my various battles with Medway Council I found that getting someone who was actually willing to take public responsibility and give his/her name to something was surprisingly difficult. You'd spend weeks going round in circles while they all played the 'not our department, try - er - anywhere but us' routine. All the same, it would be worth asking a few questions, I reckon.

Hi Clare, I just tried the online planning dept to put in my views regarding the proposed 8 metre high cctv masts.
Surprise, surprise, I cant get it to work, I need to put in my adress, but it wont accept it?

There is a certain individual that I have had minimal contact with, he appears to be co ordinating it all, but I think most of it is a case of telling us what they are doing rather than looking for in put.

The in-put stage passed by without me noticing it.:WINK1:
