We regularly hear in the media how marketing sorts, and showbiz sorts, push unrealistic ideals on us all in terms of how we should look.

H&M has been done for using computer generated models to show off their wares.

H&M caught using 'virtual' body doubles - News - Fashion - The Independent

The 'lady' in the pic in the linked article looks like the culmination of the idea of perfection that has been pushed on ladies for as long as I know of. 'She' is virtual.

Personally, I find it quite funny, but there is a serious note. I know for fact that there are very pretty young woman out there who think they're ugly because they don't look like the very poorly looking bikini models, or the ladies in the perfume ads.

It's a pretty poor job as well just look at the odd angles to the wrist and the right arm not to mention the size of the head to the body:rolleyespink:

Fashion has always done this sort of thing. My mum worked for many fashion houses in the days when well heeled people commissioned most of their clothes as one-off, bespoke items. It wasn't unusual for a portly sixty year old to describe what she wanted to a member of staff, who would draw her a nice sketch of the proposed item, featuring an impossibly thin and leggy girl. The women in the workrooms were left to translate it somehow into a garment which a fat matron with short legs, no waist and an enormous bosom might be able to wear. Don't ask me how they managed it, but they generally succeeded.

My poor sexless husband, about 10 years ago was looking at the Victoria Secrets mag. And he said to me "Are you going to look like that one day"?
I told him I had, but he missed it.
