Oh I'd love to have one of those but I'm afraid I'd be the kiss of death to it! :(

I have tried a couple of times with those varieties , look ok to start then the leaves drop off or have die back and then they pop off.

I think they need a cool conservatory ???

I know what you mean, I'm kind of on the fence with bonsai. I like how they look but am aware on the constriction to growth one must apply to them to make them look as they do.

But I'll happily prune into shape a box or rose, and tie up climbers so they grow how I want. And this next year I will be restricting the growth of a Fig tree to get better fruiting...I guess it's all the same at the end of the day.

When my son was very young and interested I planted a 'conker' in a small pot - now 35 years later I have in a small pot a 2 ft high chestnut tree which looks great in the spring/summer and has survived every year outside as Bonsai trees should be treated, it's the change in temperature and humididty inside/outside which always causes them problems in my experience.

I've been interested in bonsai on and off for years. Never got around to getting any though. Bought my mum one many years ago which she still has. She has kept it in the pot BUT buries the pot so only the tree is showing ! Yes I should tell her but this is a lady who buys a pair of Ugg boots, then takes the label off the back in case anyone recognises they are Ugg boots and tries to steal them from her !!?? I could ask her why buy Ugg boots . . . nah, save my breath.

I have a client who is very good with Bonsai, and she said that she will teach me

                  I prefer the larger Bonsai
