What about cucumbers? They were certainly a challenge for me this year. The first time I've grown them.

The big "booger" tomato is getting my vote too, but i'm also interested in the Sunflower bit. Maybe we could have 2 chalanges going here?

Are we still doing the Pumpkin challenge again next year, or is that out now?

              Steve...:)

I'm very much hoping (expecting even) that this will be in addition to the pumkin competition, like it was this year when there were both walking stick cabbage and pumpkin competitions. I & some others have already said they want to be in on this.

P.S. I initially dismissed thoughts of root veg as I thought it could prove boring with it being underground until the weighoff, but I'm sure there's some giant turnip or even manglewurzel seeds available from somewhere and it could be a two stage heaviest root + carving (or even scarecrow?) competition. Found giant turnip seeds at the Realseeds site. These could be grown in relatively small beds without the need for greenhouses and kids can get involved. Still interested in big tomatoes though.

I've already bought my seed for next season and Carol will kill me if I buy anymore :(

I'm definitely in for a biggest tomato and/or biggest onion competition, having bought the appropriate seed (I hope).

I'm going with "Delicious" and "Big Boy" in the tomato stakes and "The Kelsae" will be my onion contender.

Whatever competition is decided upon, I'd like to wish all participants good luck :D

I'll just send you the seed then Zig...you know you cant resist! 6 or 7 of my neighbours had some of my large Pumpkin, nice to give it away.

I'll be growing some giant red and white onions next year, already have the seed for those and will be sowing them on Boxing day...Onion, Leek, Shallot & Garlic seeds

                      Steve...:)
