Never known it this big at this time of year.

The half a row on the right is the Elephant Garlic, which has been slower to get away.

Ziggy, does not garlic come from slightly warmer parts than the UK?

If so I'm guessing if it can carry on at this rate you could get the best and eariest garlic for years.

Off post but I noticed my Agapanthus plants are shooting again as if its April, now that cant be good.

Its Mediteranean in origin Pete, so yes. Might stick some protection over it if the weather turns cold.

        Whats an Agapanthus?

Let me add a photo of mine - a leftover bulb from the supermarket that was a bit small for cooking with..

          Not Central Asia?

I grow generally in accordance with methods 1 - 5 in that link, not 6 & 7 because they're for uniform show garlic rather tha yield, and have the book mentioned in 4.

          But I didn't post a pic?

Garlic originated somewhere in this area. A marks Samarkland (not the one in Minehead that normally has a Harley parked outside):

My softnecks have finally made an appearance, about bloomin time..........

Now I just wish I had planted them in a different place, not too much room for my onions now and I'll be raising loads of them 'cos I've only got 2 left from last year :(

            Can we eat WILD GARLIC

There is a village along from us, and the narrow country road is lined 5' deep embankments either side for about 100 yards with Wild Garlic
Your eyes nip, even when in the car passing through
(I think ? it is illegal to remove wild garlic without land owners permission)

So if we CAN eat it, it would be easier to just pop along and pick some rather than growing it on :-)

My garlic after popping up very early towards the end of last year seems to be stopped in its tracks. Not as stout looking as yours Ziggy at the top, but more like a feebler version of Nick's photo.

First time for me having a proper go at growing garlic, so should it look straggly now until harvest time or should it start getting more robust looking?

            Cheers

Mine's stalled for the time being, low light levels, should start to pick up soon.
