Some clarication please, is that started under glass (i.e. cannot be classed as outside if sown under glass?)/finished under glass/something in between, and is that heated glass greenhouses, un-heated polytunnels, glass/plastic cloches/mini-tunnels,' walls of water', etc.

And I regularly move pot grown toms outside outside when the weather permits, and then back inside again to ripen.

        Some clarifaction is requied here.

        Good points,

I'm assuming that given the length of growing season required that we will all be starting them either indoors or in a heated greenhouse. I wouldn't class a plant started off in that way and then planted out as greenhouse grown.

I don't think we need to get too technical after that. A simple grown under cover or not perhaps, after all, if you were exibiting at a show, there is no requirement to state how it was grown, I just wanted to even it out a bit for our non greenhouse/polytunnel members.

        what do you think?

As I'm not a veggie grower or a Big Tom grower I won't be taking part, but I will be an interested on looker on a very good idea. But, if I may, I would like to suggest that the rules and approach to it is on a relaxed and good humoured level, especially when comes to the judging, by whoever, and that nobody gets upset or raises a complaint for whatever reason.
I know it sounds unlikely but, unfortunately, it does happen. So all I'm saying is that we enter the competition we remember it is a fun thing and that we should be relaxed about it all.:D

Wholeheartedly agree with ARMANDII, therefore I propose a secondary category, " Smallest/Lightest tomato" to run concurrently with the main event?

That's something we can all aspire to? :D

i will join in after all as actually in england could grow bigger because they take longer to mature than in spain which mature more quickly

Game ON. The first of my Big Boy has just germinated, still awaiting the other one and the Giant Delicious still to make an appearance.

Using the airing cupboard to speed things along, just what will we do when everyone goes "combi" boiler? :'(
