That's much cheaper than buying them at Farmville:

Is that a Photoshopped pic on ebay:

and is this tomato possibly the 'blue' tomato developed by Oregon State University several years ago?

I dont think it's Photoshopped as close/pixel depth examination does not reveal what I'd expect in a shopped image. I do think the colours have shifted quite drastically though due to either a poor scan or bad photo, probably the former.

So is it possible to use a scanner in a way to disguise image manipulation?

Looks photoshop'ed to my untrained eye. A bit like the genuine black rose that was on ebay a while ago, from the same seller that had the rainbow rose if I remember right.

But still, the proof of the tomato is in the eating as they say, it might be right.

Yes of course, there are many ways to disguise manipulation/s, but I dont think the image is manipulated, just that the seed packet is probably scanned, the resulting image from that scan was then poorly handled to produce the poor quality image of the toms.

The colour of the fruits is consistant throughout the image, that includes the fruits that are in the background behind the main fruints in the foreground (zoom into pixel depth in a good image editor to see what I mean), those fruits are also showing through the tomatos foliage too, it would be quite difficult or labour intensive to change the colours of all the fruits in the image to make them appear so bright, which leads me to think it;s just a badly handled scan or photo, probably the former.

If I was scanning the packet into my comp for use on ebay, a few basic corrections would give me this..

Bearing in mind I dont have the original seed packet to compare with it's definately heading towards the second image you posted Scrungee.
