We have a seperate box within our Recycling Bin for bottles only.
It may be asking too much for the Binment to take the individual bottles/jars etc. and place them in the wagon.
I guess your stuck with them pouring the whole lot in together H.

If I was a bin man I would be more quiet, I'm sure they do it on purpose!

I've noticed that when our binnies turn up unexpectedly early (first thing of a morning rather than in the afternoon as usual) when most of those who've not put them out the night before are still asleep, they work very quietly indeed but when they're ready to go they turn the flashing lights on, bang a couple of wheelie bins lids, slam their truck doors and look around as they slowly drive off at people coming to windows, side gates opening, etc., as they then roar off laughing.

Bin men are my heroes. I won't hear a word against them. They were a day late this week because of the Christmas break and our road had already begun to look like a garbage tip by the time they turned up. Well done guys! If I had my way you'd be paid much, much more.

We don't give our bin men a Christmas tip anymore - or the milkman. Back in the old days the bin men used to come down our driveway (100ft long) and pick up our bins (not wheelies) and bring them back. The milkman won't bring the milk to the door anymore and we he leaves it in a bucket at the top of the driveway.

Now we have to take the wheelie bins to the road! One time they didn't empty our bin and put a big sticker on it saying that it was too heavy. I phoned their manager that it would make them look really stupid if I told the local paper that the men are too wimpish to roll the bin to the lorry and roll it onto the hoist (they never have to lift it nowadays) and that my wife is a little old pensioner and was able to roll it up the driveway!

The manager apologise and got them to pick up our bin an hour later.

Our postman gets a nice Christms tip. He not only delivers to the door but posts any mail that we leave sticking out of the letterbox. Now that's good service :dbgrtmb:.

When we first moved to this house (40 years ago) the milkman not only delivered to the door but used to deliver messages around the village and bring shopping for some of the housebound people.

Our 96 year old neighbour didn't go out in the cold weather and the milkman brought parrafin for her heaters (no central heating in those days) and when she wasn't well he used to go in and cook breakfast for her. :dbgrtmb:

He started his milkround at the age of 12 and retired when he was 84 and the village held a big retirement party for him :yess: :hapfeet:

Our bin men are a pain......you always know when they've been round because half...well maybe not half ....but there is litter allover the street...
In our cul-de-sac we all do as requested ...put the bin at the end of the drive with the handle facing the road...nothing protruding from the bin otherwise they won't take it...
I got a sticker on the bin once saying that they we're unable to empty our 'brown ' bin as it was too heavy:scratch::DOH:.I wouldn't mind but i'm 8 1/2 stone and managed to drag it across the garden, down the drive to its allotted position and they were great big brutes.....
They used to get a case of beer at christmas...but not anymore.....Sorry....
