Our local Yorkshire Trading store has plenty of gardening stuff in. Not as much as it will have in a month or two, but a fair bit.

Personally I don't care two much about what the high street shops have in. When I want something, I always know where to find it. Everything is for sale on the internet, and if I can't wait that long, there's B&Q for general DIY stuff and some gardening stuff, or a myriad of other larger nurseries for gardening stuff and a good range of plants.

All that said, you couldn't buy a plant for love nor money at our local B&Q for the last few weeks, unless that plant happened to be a christmas tree. They literally cleared the entire plants section to make way for the christmas trees. If I'd realised they were going to do it, I'd have been straight there, because I bet everything that wasn't a christmas tree got sold off for a pittance, or worse, just chucked out.

Seen the Easter stuff and some Valentine's stuff creeping into a few stores now.....at least with somewhere like Wilko's that doesn't really go overboard with Easter products they are starting to stock up with gardening stuff again now

The sales of Christmas stuff seems to have varied from store to store around here, B&M and Home Bargains had lots of empty shelves just before Christmas with good sales where as Tesco and Wilkos had loads left. Some bargains out there now though if you want them, saw a Christmas Tree in Tesco that was £70 right up to Christmas Eve, now £12.50...nice artifial tree too with pine cones etc..

We've picked up a load of wrapping paper from a card shop and stuck it in the attic; at 20 rolls for £1 you can't go wrong :D, it was 2 rolls for £1...

Why is it, that I can go into a Homebase, 2 weeks before Christmas and there isn't a single set of Christmas lights to be had since the shelves had been '... cleared for re-stocking' - in other words 'our sale starts now' - and yet less than a week after Christmas, the same shop is trying to fool customers into believing that the broken remnants of some tacky decoration is a 'bargain' when it's been reduced from £18 to 'only £16.50' - a whopping saving of .... oh, £1.50!!

Amongst all the Easter stuff in my Tesco on Friday, I managed to pick up .... 'Finest' beef joint at £4 per Kg; Christmas cards - boxes of 40 now 50p.; box of 6 (so-called 'luxury') crackers, were £15 now £2.50 (and probably not worth even that!), as well as the BOGOF on hot-cross buns!

And as a BTW - where do all the nuts (that's the edible kind!) go after Christmas? Boxes and boxes of the things on Christmas Eve, but my son-in-law went to a Tesco on Boxing Day and there wasn't a chestnut to be seen :dunno:

Yes what do they do with the stock
I went just before new years eve to buy some Walnuts and mixed nuts, not a bag to be had, and never to be stocked again
Another TURKISH DELIGHT my favourite, shops piled high on boxing day, gone never to be seen again until Dec 2012

I held off on the TURKISH DELIGHT because I usually get ample supplies
to Dad, to Grandad, to Uncle, to Old Barsteward etc, but my fatal mistake was stating as I was retiring I was now into gardening

Loads of excellent Gardening pressies, but not a sweetie in sight :-(

Don't forget about the Euro & the Olympics, of course!

Shops will be filled with 89'' TVs, stupid hats with the England/Union Jack flag on, banners, novelty ties, cheap England shirts... only for it all to be binned 2 weeks later and then sold on cheap by shops (even though it all has 2012 plastered all over it).
