My friends allotment society buy hundreds of used tomato grow bags for mulching and digging in etc. To use old compost for growing seeds in is not something I would do . I think you should stick to new seed compost Mick, unless you like playing Russian roulette :D

I do that, try to mix it with something like worm compost though as there won't be much in the way of nutrient left.

Avoid planting the same crops in it though.

All the old compost from Tomatoes, Pots and Baskets ends up on my Nursery bed, where I stick hardwood cuttings, plants waiting for a final place etc.
I also make use of the compost from here for the bottom section of Pots for plants that don't have the need for deep roots. It saves on the use of the new compost I buy

I mix it with soil/garden compost and use to grow carrots.

and then I use it for salad stuff.

and then I mix some reduced bags of sand with it and use it for carrotts.

            and then .................

            Waste not want not.

The stuff they use in grow bags these days is so poor that without massive feeding its not likely to work.

So actually attempting to reuse the stuff a second time round seems very risky unless your into growing chemically on an inert substance.
I've seen some that look like coal dust:)

I'd just throw it on the border, it can help soil structure wise for a couple of years.

I agree with Pete, chuck it on the beds as a soil conditioner.:dbgrtmb:

Re-use for carrot (and parsnips) works for me if mixed with soil. The nutrients have been used up but it helps retain moisture and carrots don't require a lot of feeding.

Just looking at a few threads which would interest me and saw this. What a good idea for growbag compost (which is bottom of the heap as far as compost goes). I have some very large tubs and this would go a long way towards filling the bottom. It would also allow roots to use it if any are long enough.

I agree...I wouldn't use the grown bags in the first place. But re-using them seems a bit too much.
