Ideas for concrete eyesore?!

I thought someone had just got clever with a rollered lawnmower. It just about describes the act of lawn maintenance.

 

What app is it? And is it easy to learn? I.e. if I downloaded it would I have the basic skills mastered in under 5 minutes without reading any manuals? That's a serious question, I have a very short attention span with new software

 

Thanks everyonr, I think I'm going to go for EddieJ's idea as it will be fairly cost effective and achievable for a novice like me! A couple of questions though....will there be a problem with drainage if it was raised and covered with gravel? I'm a bit concerned it could be waterlogged! Also, would an adhesive like "liquid nails" be the best sort of thing to attach the wood to the concrete?

Using liquid nails to fix the timber probably wouldn't work. Taking dampness or dust into the equation, the adhesive would struggle to bond.
I'd opt for screwing the timber to the concrete. You won't have to go mad with the fixings though.
I don't think that water would be a problem. You would only need a very slight upstand of say 10-15mm, and I'm sure that any water would filter away.

If you think about it, using any type of "grip adhesive" is a bad idea, because you will in effect be making a waterproof seal, so when it rains all inside the timber would fill up and rot the timber quicker.

I would suggest screws or rawlbolts, and to use spacers to keep it off the concrete, to allow the water to run away. For the spacers you could use SHIMS which are designed for the job.
