I got the soil tester kits last night
    only one soil thermometer available
    three soil moisture displays
    and one PH tester

The PH tester is very handy much easier than the distilled water , powder, shake and soil match the colour kits It does work too :-)

I have tried the testers and could never get consistent readings have you compared the ph readings with a chemical test?

Just tried two, (only two capsules I had left) and they matched

I am not a great gardener yet, just beginning, all I need to know is if the soil is acid, or alakline, not the specific accidity, so I reckon as toys they will do me

    Thanks for the heads up

our local tesco village store recieved several large fruit trees today, so I presume they will be available in many other Tesco stores .... was in a rush today, so never had a close look, but guessing, they are about 5 feet tall ... saw apples, pears etc

Our Aldi still have all the fruit trees, £3.99 just do not seem to be moving
They are about 6' maybe 6'6"
I do not have the room though I fancy a couple, maybe not, too much hassle to upkeep Plum trees with wasps loads of damaged inedible fruit too much housekeeping

I noticed that the lemon and olive trees both said that they were not for consumption - decoration only, I asked the staff but they couldn't help. Does anyone know whether that's really the case, I've never heard of an ornamental olive!

Our store has a few left but we're really spoilt for choice this year if you want a fruit tree; as well as Aldi Tesco have just got some in for £7 (these are about 4-5ft tall), Wilkos have now got some for £6.98 (these look a good 5-6ft), our weekly Market also has a stall selling them for £10.

And fruit bushes (raspberries, blackberries, gooseberries etc) are everywhere..

Oh if only had more land..I'd plant an orchard :D :heehee:

That's what I thought, wondering the reason for the label. I guess they just want a let out if nothing ripens!

I tried to be "good" when in Aldis last week but found that "someone" had put a Kumquash tree in my shopping trolley on my way out!! So it's now joined the Banana , Cannas, Orange tree, Lemon tree in my Jungle kitchen awaiting for Spring.:heehee::D
