Off we go! My windowsills are now adorned with chillis, leeks, broad beans and red onion.

The chillis will spend April-May in the greenhouse before summer on the patio. The rest a week or two in the greenhouse before hitting the plot around March / April.

(I know later sowings would catch up, and I know there might not be enough light even on my mega sunny south-facing windowsills, but I just couldn't resist!)

That is early Andrew , I will start my Chillis and Cannas at the end of the month. Then like you into the potting shed until the end of May then onto the patio. I am growing Hungarian Hot Wax and Cherry Bombs this year , what types are you growing?

I'm a bit further south than you Harry, unfortunately (for me, since the North-West is my much missed homeland!)

Fortunately gardening wise it means I can give very early sowing a whirl.

I'm doing jalapenos and cayenne from seed.

I've got 'Demon Red', 'Inferno' and a couple of others overwintering in the spare room too, so hopefully they'll come through.

Going to get nasturtiums and a few other hardy annuals on the go soon too!

My seeds won't be under way until March here, any earlier and I'll be stumped waiting for the weather to warm up, so I can get them outside. I intend to start my cucumbers off in April this year instead of March, I think they will benefit from it being slightly warmer at night. :)

Blimey, two weeks old and my sweat peas are going for it !

(two different varieties, left and right)

The ones on the right are just showing 2nd leaves ... should I pick them out yet, or wait till they're a bit bigger ?

      Pick or pinch them out?

I pinch mine out at about 20 to 30cm, but others may well do it differently.........

The sweet peas should be pinched out above the 3rd set of true leaves , according to the sweet pea gurus . I started mine last October , I have not grown them for a couple of years due to iffy performance. I am trying SP Floral Tribute which was suggested on here ~ only time will tell know
