Amazing sight......

    Sat having breakfast and looked up to see the most amazing sight ever:yess: A skein of geese in perfect formation...there must have been at least 200 of them....i've seen this before but not on such a scale....looked and sounded fantastic....i was mesmorised by them so by the time i ran in for the camera they were just about out of sight.....They were heading north....just amazing:sunny:

      I saw similar a few days back, Canada Gooses heading north. Unfortunately I was driving at the time.

      We get the same here every year, only with Cranes. Amazing site.:)

        its a good sign if they are coming back ... could mean that the remaining winter weeks will be mild?

        some guys in the USA also state that geese are returning early

          Useless fact of the day:

          Geese don't just randomly form up in the familiar V formation, there is strategy to it. The one at the very front has to work the hardest, as the others are all in his/her and each others slipstream. Being at the front is most tiring, and one goose couldn't muster the energy to maintain it for the entire journey, so they have a clever system. As the lead gets tired, he/she will drop back to the left arm of the formation. Everyone in the right arm moves forward one place, and the chap at the very back of the left arm crosses to join the back of the right arm, so that there is a constant, organised rotation of the formation so the everybody gets a turn at being the leader.

            the same happens with bicyle racing .... guys takes turns in the front, and the others slipstream
