    Hi.

I was just wondering, I'm fairly sure the moon landing did happen but these conspiracy sites don't half get into your head so would it not be possible to get a powerful telescope and actually look for the American flag on the moon?? :what:
That would certainly prove it but then people mite say that's fake too...unless we could buy telescopes our selves to check maybe

    I've been thinking that too.

We've got remote sensing that can pick out planets circling other stars but the Colonists wont turn these onto our nearest satelite to prove they went there in the 1960's

Dim will prove me wrong in about 3 nanoseconds.

It looked pretty real in 1969 when we were seeing the images on "live TV".

The workplace came to a stop for a couple of hours to watch the images.

Until proven otherwise I, for 1, tend to believe it really happened. There's no way - IMHO - that they would go to the bother of doing the whole Hanger thing just to get one over the Russians and prolong it for the next 40+ years.

I think the truth is that there are many people that need to believe in conspiracy theories. Therefore facts or proof are not relevant - If you don't want to believe then you don't believe irrespective of the proof.

Just look at the Roman Catholic church and Galileo.

Or from "USA Today" 6/7/2007 "Two-thirds in the poll said creationism, the idea that God created humans in their present form within the past 10,000 years, is definitely or probably true."

I like to use the Judge Judy test - "If it doesn't make sense then its probably not true". But then I am in the minority.

You could look for the flag with a telescope, but then equally you could look for dead probes on Mars, and if you find any, it just proves that they are there. It doesn't prove how they got there.

But back to the original question. I've heard many arguments from the conspiracy theorists, and so far every piece of 'evidence' they present can easily be explained away even without needing to be a top scientist. Common sense is usually quite sufficient.

When you are young, and have an 'imaginary friend', people label you as a nutter

But when you are older, and have an 'imaginary friend', it's fine, as it's called 'religion'

Conspiracy theorists :wallbang::wallbang::wallbang: Or people who wont believe the blindingly obvious! Anway on stargazing this week , they had the last astronaut who landed on the moon. They showed photos taken by a probe of the lunar buggy and the tracks to it plus other bits and bobs.

I've been watching that stargazing program Harry. There's a couple of bits I really enjoyed.

                    1) Young Prof Brian answering a question about why the american flag appeared to be flapping in the wind, despite there being no atmosphere on the moon. He very quickly explained that its because they knew an ordinary flag would just flop, so they added a cross bar to suspend it, and that anyone who still had doubts could switch to ITV because he didn't want them.

                    2) Another remark about alien sightings and abductions. He pointed out that if the aliens had the capability to get here without being spotted on every big telescope and early warning system, then they would not let themselves be spotted by a few farmers in rural US. They'd either make their presence widely known, or not at all.

You realise, Harry and Clueless, that other members, mentioning no names [but you know who you are:heehee:], will believe you're part of a conspiracy by the Governments of the World to make us all believe things that aren't "true":heehee::heehee::loll::D

This is real reason why, despite actually going there and touching down, they needed to fake the flag pic, etc.

I can categorically neither confirm nor deny that I am an agent for a top secret government department that categorically does not exist and can categorically confirm that Harry does not work for the same top secret government department that categorically does not exist as I may or may not be an agent for, if such a categorically nonexistent top secret government department had indeed existed, which categorically it does not.
