You know the old joke about Politicians, Dai:

If a Politician scratches his head, he's not lying.

If a Politician rubs his nose, he's not lying.

If a politician appears in public, he's not lying.

If a Politician opens his mouth, he's lying.

so, you are saying they lied when they said man walked on the moon? ....

then several years later when they feel guilty, and come clean and say on camera that apollo 11 was a hoax, you still say they are talking porkies?

        :rolleyespink:

I found it annoying that the american voice over covered the French guy.

I would have rather heard what he had to say without

Dim - I looked through most parts (its a bit long) again, but I couldn't find any part where Rumsfeld or anyone else said the moon landing was a hoax. What Rumsfeld did say was "If we fail we can always show those pictures to the public"

What was clear to me that they had two plans - Plan A and Plan B.

Plan A was a genuine landing on the moon, which they had been planning for several years. There is no doubt that there plan A existed. A lot of time, money and effort had been spent, and Rumsfeld's comments implied that a genuine landing would be attempted.

Plan B was a last minute suggestion (the film said they had just two weeks) that they should make a simulation/hoax video in case they couldn't show the pictures from a genuine landing or (perhaps) in case they were unable to land. The film showing Rumsfeld and others made it quite clear that Plan B did existed and that a hoax video was made.

But at no stage did I hear Rumsfeld or anyone else saying that Plan A had failed or didn't exist. If there was no Plan A then how can we account for the rocket leaving earth and the astronauts returning. If they had failed to land and simply circled the moon, there would be hundreds of people in Mission Control who would be aware of the situation. If Plan A had been a failure then surely someone in the film would have said so - after all it is the key to the entire film.

You have made a good case that Plan B existed, but there was no suggestion that Plan A had failed. The fact that some of the astronauts had problems afterwards is not that unusual - it is said that Yuri Gagarin took to drink. And many pop stars and film stars go off the rails after huge success.

you did not fully understand the video .... the footage that was shown to the public, that was 'supposidly live' was the faked footage that was filmed before the launch ...

the apollo 11 did launch, but they circled the earth, (see the previous video that I posted ... a funny thing happened on the way to the moon') .....

the astronaults would have died if they went through the radiation belt .... that's why they have never tried again, and thats why the russians have never attempted to go that far into space with a manned crew ....

It was great when the Japanese probe took photos of the actual landing sites a couple of years ago, completely debunked all these wild stories. Not forgetting all the other third parties monitoring the Americans at the time, but of course Jodrell Bank, 14 year old school kids tracking on homemade radios and the Japanese were in the payroll of the FBI

*dim* I reckon even if they had taken you with them you on Apollo 11 and landed on the moon, you would have denied it, claiming it was a dream :heehee:

John, you're not supposed to put the words '14 year old kids' and 'Jodrell Bank' into the same sentence!! :stirpot: :heehee:

Trouble is, if you get 50 people to watch all those videos, you'll get 50 points of view afterwards. IF you get 50 people watching them who are already convinced the moon landing was a hoax, the videos will only concrete that thought for them.

I sit pefectly on the fence on this issue, I neither believe nor disbelieve the Moon landings but I am aware of it's history.

Something I do know though, is that editing is a very powerfull tool.

One could quote to a newspaper reporter, "Do you really think I would rob that pensioner?"

Then the reporter could completely revese that and legally print "I would rob that pensioner", this is editing at the extreme and showing comments not in context.

I suspect that the above videos would view a whole lot different if the comments made by the Politicians where as the complete interview was filmed and therefore in context.

                    Steve...:)

that is exactly my point Steve

although many say they don't believe in conspiracies, they secretly question many so called facts that are presented to them

and as I previously mentioned, a conspiracy can, and should be defined as any subject matter that some state are facts, .... be it politics, sport, aliens, astrology, archeology, history, medicine or religion etc

so, in a nutshell .... everyone is a conspiracy theorist .... some just don't want to admit it blatantly

                    :)

If they never intended to land on the moon why did Rumsfeld say "If we fail we can always show those pictures to the public"? And why did they only decide to make a hoax video two week before the supposed landing? What would they have done if they couldn't have got access to the film set at such short notice? And why did president Nixon make a secret video in case they died on the moon?

I suspect that if the landing had been successful but they hadn't got live footage, they might have been tempted to show the hoax - after all it wasn't a hoax but a simulation. If caught out they would simply say that by error the words simulation were omitted.

However if they had failed to land, I suspect that they would never have had the gall to show what would have been a hoax. It would not have been a matter of concience - I am sure there were plenty of ruthless liars involved. But simply that the chance of the truth leaking out would be so great. It wouldn't just have been the loonies on the fringe (with all due respect :D) involved - but mainstream investigative journalists in every country. The chance of keeping such a failure secret would have been nil, with all the people at Mission Control, and as JWK pointed out telescopes in the rest of the world. The USA would have been made a laughing stock all round the world..
