Anyone got anything to say about cider vinegar?

I've bought some organic cider vinegar, apparently with the enzymes still in it. Not tried it yet.

I'll say later what I'm hoping it will do, but for now I don't want to lead anyone's thoughts:)

    So what do we reckon?

loads of people say it is a good health tonic .... mix a tablespoon of Manuka honey (with a strength of greater than 12), with a tablespoon of cider vinegar, and a pinch of cayenne pepper .... have it once a day in the mornings on an empty stomach (before you have coffee/tea or breakfast)

it's supposed to be very good for you

Kills about 98% of sore throat germs.

I had some wicked french stuff once, think it was from Culpeppers.

Used it as a steam inhalation when I had a head cold. Within a minute my nose started to run, and run, and run. It was pouring constantly for about 6 hours, never again.

My neighbour had a small book about a woman (who was a nurse) who reckoned she cured her arthritis with cider vineger!! She said that it literally dissolves the calcium deposits which cause the arthritis. What can you say, it worked for her!!

Sorry all, I promised to report back on this thread, and then completely forgot about it:heehee:

The reason I bought said cider vinegar was because having vaguely remembering my great uncle (who was into all sorts of witchery) mentioning it, I decided to do a bit of research.

Most of the articles I found about it were written by American new age hippies. I have nothing against such people, but they do tend to be a tad naive and if you told that, for example, the leaves common lawn grass had healing powers, within 24 hours there'd be loads of articles about how grass cures every ailment ever discovered, and its also great for your skin. So I wanted to see what our very real folks on here thought.

I bought the stuff because having researched it, there are suggestions that it aids the body in releasing energy from fat cells. I.e. great if you want to shake off the lard. Secondary to that, the articles I read suggest that it can dissolve the fatty deposits that clog our arteries as we get older. Personally I doubt both claims, but I'm willing to give it a try.

Well vinegar DOES get rid of limescale and is a great grease cutter for washing dishes etc. It can't hurt in moderation.

I just googled it and apparently it can eat into your bones (if taken in large quantities), so it's true what you said on the other thread Ziggy! I wonder how it targets the arthritic bits, I might give it a go.

Anyone recommed the best place to buy it?

All ready seen and read those articles, and many more, but thanks all the same. Its why I was asking on here, hoping for people's personal experience of the stuff.

I don't care if it doesn't work to be honest. And I am very sceptical as I mentioned. But as a salad dressing, I could go for the bog standard 2 parts olive oil to 1 part vinegar, with all those calories in the olive oil defeating the purpose of having a salad (my as well have a nice pie instead). Or just use a nice flavoured vinegar with virtually no calories to flavour my salad, and if any of the health claims turn out to be true, bonus:dbgrtmb:

If you are going for flavour, buy a few extra bottles & put some herbs in them, like rosemary & tarragon. Even Garlic.
