It is to be expected that when you are new somewhere there is a little tension from both sides as when you start a new job etc.
You don’t know who is who but that applies to every situation at the start.

But more misunderstandings are happening in the writing as opposed to the speaking (or chatting). I find it that it takes too long to ask for explanation or to supply explanation in writing if something is not clear and I am often left wondering…

I don’t feel like I have a duty to appear every day and I feel free to come and go, and I don’t behave in big lines any different from my usual self.

I sometimes visit an Italian gardening forum where it is not allowed to discuss anything not connected with gardening.

My personal preference would be all the off topic posts in one place and all gardening stuff in another place. But I can live with it as it is easily…

I love this place, hard to explain but I am a member of other (fishing) forums and they aren't as friendly or laid back as this one, here we can gain expert knowledge for anything we want, we have a laugh, go off on tangents discussing something completely irrelivant to the original thread, but that's just like a few mates having a 'chin-wag' over a drink. Arguing is rare and is quickly sorted if it does appear, often with humour, just go with the flow and enjoy the ride, nobody will judge you......experts and amateurs alike are all welcome here, one big happy gardening family....................:D

ooooooo this is getting too loved up now :D :D :D.....off for some breakfast.....:yummy:

GC was the very first forum I ever joined, back in May 05 - gosh was it really that long ago! My ID number is 379 and I well remember us all celebrating when we got to 500 members!

The second forum I joined was called Christian Forums and I was totally misled into expecting everything to be nice and friendly - WRONG! I started a thread about something that interested me, as one does, only to come under attack from a kid from Northern Ireland who obviously thought my 'style' of worship was of the devil and I should be exorcised, expelled from churches across the globe and I don't know what else! Luckily, two other members came to my defence and he was seen off. But I was left more than a bit shell shocked by the experience. But you just never know what loonies will be hiding in the woodwork.

Speaking of which, Ziggy ....... :heehee:

my first forum was the one Daisees just mentioned.

I however mostly avoided debate and hung out I the RPGS. fitted in at first but when a huge influx of new members come and less and less of the old gang were around i finally jumped ship, taking my friends Laura and Raych with me.lol

                exactly :dbgrtmb:

it was pointed out to me recently that i very rarely ask a gardening question ... this is tue .... but mainly because i have spent hours looking back through the old topics looking for the answer first :dbgrtmb:

on the odd occassion that i cant find the answer or if it a general question to do with MY garden then i ask ..... :heehee:

i have been known to give answers but not often :o BUt i am getting braver:heehee::heehee::heehee:

but i joined here to get answers to my questions not because i thought i knew it all :loll::loll:

i did LURKE for a while before deciding that i wouldnt :gaagh:
i like the advice and the banter :D:D

i work odd hours and shifts so this is convenient to me :dbgrtmb::dbgrtmb:

if i can make some friends along the way all the better i say :D:wub2:

A friend of mine gave up going to her church group when one of the lovely ladies in it casually mentioned that anyone who didn't subscribe to their particular faction of Christianity was doomed to burn in eternal hellfire. Things got a little heated. Eventually the entire group removed itself from my friend's presence with the words 'We'll pray for you, dear.' My friend said that, on balance, she'd rather they didn't.

They both looked the same, so by calling them both Eric, neither of them came to you when you called.

                          Question:

If forums are like school, which of us is:

                          * The know-it-all that nobody likes?
                          * The one that cries all the time and still gets picked up and dropped off by his mammy?
                          * The one who always has the latest trainers?
                          * The scruffy one who everyone pities?
                          * The one that gives the teacher a nervous breakdown?

I thought Eric and Eric were both fish?
