I was in a Garden centre the other day and they had some dayliles by Taylors bulbs, most of them had sprouted i so wanted to buy one but i thought i would ask Spruce first if it would have been anygood, i dont have much knowledge with these as i have never grow them (this is probably swearing at Spruce for say that:heehee:) the sprouts on the were 3" popping out the bag.

I think they were Blueberry Candy.

      Hi

Thanks for this you could of asked Simbad, Liloon Pollie all of us crazy hemeroholics, sound like we need a cream :heehee::heehee: like Ziggy has on a weekly basis and not forgetting Armandii :loll:

Go ahead and buy them but I would pot them up in a large pot and grow on (multi purpose will be ok) , keep by the house wall for protection from frost for now then early May you can plant out in the garden needs full sun well drained and not waterlogged over the winter.

      Out of intrest how much

Daylily BLUEBERRY CANDY (Stamile 1993) DF Perennial Plant Nursery

No it wasnt a swear word "a day lily is for life not just for Christmas" only diserning gardemers have them

I guess that's why I got some growing at the foot of my compost heap. They were some I'd divided and having too many, which is blasphemy to Spruce, Simbad, Lilloon Pollie and the rest of the "crazies", I threw some on the compost heap. They must have fallen off and taken root in the very fertile ground at the front of the compost heap. :D

Just be careful, Resonate, because you might get like them, getting the shakes, dribbling at the mouth, trying to buy single Snowdrop bulbs at £300 plus. They are the ones with the knowledge of Day Lilies, but if you need to learn more you'll have to ring the Institution to find out what the visiting hours are.:OUCH::heehee::heehee::rolleyespink::D

          Hi,

I cant remember how much they were, i think £3.50 but not sure Spruce, i have now orderd two of the above mentioned from Walkers Bulbs Priced £2.49 each, but obviously they does not include p+p.

I had a search on e-bay and i saw some nursery in Powys selling quite a lot of daylilys, i liked the "destined to see" and also "bonanza"

          Hi Armandii

I have only been amateur gardening for the last 4 years and i am serioulsy hooked so much so i am despertely looking for a cheap used greenhouse, i have paid ridiculous garden centre prices for some plants in the past, but know i take cuttings and grow from seed now.

As i have said i am getting into Grow your own veg this year (wish me luck) my fingers are iching to get into the compost seed bag:wub2:
