    Hi,
does anyone know where l can get really small plug trays from please. I want to grow 500/600 bedding plant seeds, so the very, very small ones are the ones that l require. In my local Dobbies, l have seen some of their plug plants growing in the size cell which l want, but unfortunately, they do not sell empty cells.

    Kind regards,

    Josie

What part of Stafforshire do you live. I live west of Walsall.

I have a tray with quiet a few cells about 20mm square that you are welcome to ( not sure the exact size ) but about 50/60 cells.

If you are interested send a PM.

I think anything smaller than about an inch square, so 40 cells per regular sized seed tray, won't grow large enough to plant outside - those really small ones are the sort of size you buy-in to then pot-on yourself, before planting out later.

The Garden Centre Group (formerly Wyevales) have "Seed Tray Cell Inserts" on special offer at present - 15 for £5 (although I have no idea if that is a good price, but if you have one locally you'd save the postage at least)

Thanks for your kind offer. I managed to get some off Ebay...... 2 x 360 x cell, for only £7.06 and FREE P.P :yay::yay::yay:

P.S. I live near to Cannock, so we are practically neighbours.

          Kind regards,

          Josie

I use quite a few of those 40x cell trays and they are 6 for £2.98 in B&Q and 5 for £3.48 in Homebase, so that is a really good price and I bought some today. You need to use your 'Gardening Club' loyalty card to take advantage of the offer (see P.S.). I often cut them into strips of cells and fit them into gaps in propagators.

What's also good about these cell trays is that they will fit into a 'standard' size seed tray, but the ones from B&Q wont as they are slightly longer and need to be placed in something like a longer than standard Sankey tray - the ones with the inset diamond pattern on the base.

P.S. So make sure you join up instore first before taking your shopping thropugh the tills.

Not sure, but I think you can join then-and-there? There are signs around ours saying "Join today" - but maybe it doesn't mean "And get your discount today" !!

"the ones from B&Q wont [fit a standard seed tray] as they are slightly longer and need to be placed in something like a longer than standard Sankey tray"

Gordon Bennett! Someone needs to be taken out and shot then! What a world we live in where different manufactures have their own slightly-different-sized-seed-trays ...
