Sorry to hear you're layed up Len and I hope they get you sorted soon. If it's any consolation, there's no gardening being done by anyone, it's either to frozen or to wet!

Sounds like your fellow in-mates are keeping you amused. :D

      Get well soon. :)

      Okay, so update :

Been in four days, off the harder drugs and controlling the pain nicely with gentler drugs plus anti bios. So since Friday they've been saying "we'll CT scan you on Monday".

Great thought I. This morning at 10am same thing, we'll CT scan you today, at worst it might be tomorrow. I can live with that.

At 12:00 they came to me ... "because your pain is under control you are no longer a critical case and as such we might not even get round to scanning you this week, so we are sending you home (with a bucket load of drugs) because we need the bed, and we will treat you as an outpatient ... you'll get an appointment with a urinologist for in three to four weeks time ..."

So that's it ... turfed out.

I know I'm really lucky that my company provides private health for me (a luxury not all have) so tomorrow I'm ringing a private specialist and talking to the ins co to get all that kicked off, but to say my experience of the NHS is less than "happy" is an understatement (though I will say that the nurses have been bl**dy marvellous, couldn't be better)

Thanks for the wishes all ... at least I'm home for now and can get a good nights sleep. :)

Are you sure Moyra that you don't want to do nothing about that kidney stone?

They are very unpredictable and you may be lucky but if you are not you could end up having diseased kidneys and you know where you go from there...

moyra - all I can say is, if it moves and starts to descend your ureter, you'll wish you'd had it looked at :-/

At least they know what they're dealing with Evil Len. I hope they sort it soon for you. I believe sometimes they can dissolve them with ultrasound nowadays. Hopefully its as simple as that for you.

I couldn't agree more. I didn't even know I had one until afterwards. Dull back pain, with occasional sharp but short lived and bearable pain. Then it moved of its own accord. I honestly genuinely believed it was game over. I've never experienced such pain before or since.

Get it seen to if you know what's good for you.
